John Ryan on facebook
« on March 30, 2023, 09:06:11 pm by karldew »
I know a few aren’t on Facebook, so I thought I’d share JRs latest post around 20:00.

“We really need a win on Saturday as Crewe are if anything worse than us.However the situation is dire and changes need tobe made.Over the years Terry as done well investing many millions so who can blame him for not wanting to fund the club when a lot of is money’s has been squandered. The responsibility for this and the general lack of ambition in my opinion lies squarely with the chairman and he should be instantly dismissed as he as presided over abject failure for far to long and I doubt he’s risked any of his own money.Once he’s gone the club as a chance of moving forward.Gavin in my opinion does a good job bringing in badly needed funds. If nothing happens soon we will be staring at a return to non league football and it took 5years last time to get back it could be terminal this time you only have to look at Scunthorpe or York.Time for action to save our club.“

Not sure if that’s him interested, if he’s wanting someone to tap him on the shoulder and support him? Or if it’s just a cry for help because like us he can’t do much about it either.

Blunt as Ken Richardson incarnate.. looks like the firestarter.. needs to go. The buck stops with the Chairman.

I thought JR had better grammar can’t argue with the sentiment

Didnt he post recently that his account had been hacked? I might be way off in my thinking but the grammar wasn’t that of a successful multi millionaire  businessman. Not sure he would publicly demand the sacking of the chairman?

Reads like it’s been written by a five year old. I doubt that’s real, and if it is then I hope he’s okay. JR was a smart and articulate guy.

That doesn’t mean I disagree with the sentiment, though.

I think the hacking was more somebody impersonating him. They were sending out friend requests on another account by the looks of things

It strikes me as a bit of, the bloke who has my job now is shit, especially compared to me.

He needs to let it go. He blew it but still retains alot of good will. If he keeps taking shots like this it will eventually evapourate

I agree with the sentiment too. Just not sure about the delivery or the language

Why will it evaporate? We all know that Blunt's sh*t as a chairman.

It's also notable that JR was very complimentary to Terry.

I'm "friends" with JR on Facebook, and I have to say the grammar on that post is consistent with what else he posts.

But grammar aside, the message he is putting across is clearly resonating with a lot of the fanbase right now.

I disagree. It's commendable he speaks out. Enough is enough. It's Blunt who needs to evaporate.. the sooner the better.

Ryan wanted to flog us off to a dodgy hedge fund and foisted the 'Experiment' on us designed by Willie McKay. Yes Ryan was the talisman back in the dark days but that was in contrast to Richardson who was a criminal and gangster!!! JR, in my opinion is an iffy businessman just like all of them. Ludicrous breast implants that nobody really needs is a shocking way to make your millions. I really want us to be independent of all those kind of characters.

Bit harsh… “iffy businessman like all the rest” how would you know that? Just because you dont rate his product or service doesn’t make him iffy. Im sure he will have some enemies and skeletons but if you think you are going to find a future owner with the funding needed whos whiter than white then you are naive

There aren't many football club benefactors who are 'whiter than white'. It's not the model for football club ownership that I want. Do you? Why should it be a who's got the most money competition? Go and get the Glazers or the Saudi Govt or whoever.

Lying to the DFP during one takeover attempt and then lying to Rovers fans during the second takeover attempt makes him publicly iffy.

No matter what happened during the take over attempt the facts remain we have been going backwards for the last few years and numerous bad choices for managers have seen us drop like a stone. The rot has to stop. If nothing changes we will struggle to stay up next season.

Agreed
..... I year above me at Danum. He would have learned the difference between "as" and "has" also "is" and "his" for a starter not to mention "to" for "too"

I always felt that when JR was Chairman he embodied passion and that there was a good feel and it no doubt rubbed off on the players, management, fans etc.

In terms of the 'experiment' and the hedge fund business I think he was just trying to keep us alive in the Championship and that he could see us falling away from there. Which inevitably we have.

I have been highly in support of the strategy the board are taking now but unfortunately I am seeing more and more frustration with the fan base and that maybe League 2 is probably where we are more likely to stay unless we get shrewd transfer recruitment and the manager correct.

Don't really buy the argument about grammar part because some people do, some people don't it doesn't make them any less intelligent even if they can't read, write etc.

I think fans have to accept us returning to the Championship is unrealistic unless things change.

It strikes me of your reply fans are in denial, you cannot deny that things were so much better when he was Chairman.

Grammar aside you can’t disagree with the sentiment of the post, Blunt is 100% to blame for the rapid decline on the pitch

100% this. And to those who say he lost the plot/was disingenuous at the end of his tenure I'd be inclined to agree however I think it was out of desperation to keep the dream alive. Nefarious outsiders like McKay et al could see how desperate JR was and people like that will prey on the weakness to get their own way. If Blunt showed 1% of the desire that JR had we wouldn't be in this mess but he really doesn't appear to give a hoot.

I heard a while back that when asked how he felt about relegation his reply was along the lines of "It doesn't matter to me, the fans will keep turning up." There's his ambition and empathy in a  nutshell.

These fans that are slagging him off were back in the day singing “one John Ryan” at every game. Fickle.

He is a fan just like the rest of us and is worried about the state of the club again just like the rest of us!
