Jack Goodman

One positive from today.

Crazy that anyone should expect such a young man to lead the line as a sole lone central forward on debut.

However on given a seemingly impossible task he did as well as could be expected of him I thought.

He showed he has a very good technique, made some clever runs off the ball, and for an 18 yo was quite robust and not easily buffeted off the ball.

Looks like a prospect.

Not the right game or atmosphere to throw him on really, especially when you have a very experienced striker on the bench, but what you say is correct, he put the effort in that others have lacked

Did everything expected of a striker. Received and held the ball up well and either got a free kick or brought others into play and not scared to shoot. Looks a good prospect on 1st showing. Did enough to earn a start at Gillingham.

Raven, Goodman and Faulkner were the only bright lights we had on the field today.  Goodman was excellent, and Faulkner our best defender.

You say he isn’t ready to step up, fair enough but based on what? He was our only positives today.

Not strong enough yet to play against full time pros, as I say a good prospect but not ready yet

Goodman surprised me today.
He looks to have a good physique and looks quite strong for his age.
He made some good runs and was confident on the ball.
His hold up play was good too.
Definitely worth a start but I would give him some second half minutes at Gillingham then start him at home to Grimsby.
Faulkner did really well and forced a really good save from their (very good 18 years old) keeper.

The Raven on here wasn't too bad in his prime either. I'm sure he wouldn't have done a worse job than this lot we have now.

He was definitely trying to get stuck in and I hope he gets more outings , the rest looked uninspired and incapable of doing anything to raise the game.

He's got to start the next game, we're not Barca or City we can't play without a centre forward. He looked intelligent and quite robust for his age, thought he held the ball up better than Miller or Lavery to be honest.

He did. Was the one bright light today. How long will it take for DS to destroy this lads confidence.
That’s the concern.

Right now saying anyone was our best player doesn't mean very much.

Faulkner could score 2 own goals and get red carded and Selby would say he was the best player on the pitch.
He is a very good prospect but he isn't the best defender we have. Even though he was at fault for the first goal with the air shot I still think Nelson is much the better and is first choice in that back line.
But that is my own personal opinion

If we could go 442 and play him up with Agard they might have a bit of threat. Agard hasn’t got the legs but is a good pro and can hold the ball up to feet. DS might as well cancel Agard contract if he can’t get on the pitch today.

Sounds promising on Goodman hopefully him and Faulkner can play every game before summer and show they can be counted on in the 1st team squad next season. Just hope DS and the toxic atmosphere doesn’t hurt their confidence at such a important time

It was hardly a toxic atmosphere yesterday. A couple of Schofield chants and the odd boo and shouted comment.

If Goodman is our future let's play him from the start. He showed lots of promise , looks a unit for his age and was committed from the off

Would have liked to have seen him start and he might have inspired us to a goal or two , speculation I know

If he then runs out of steam after 60 mins say , then bring him off , and repeat every game

He is the ONLY reason I might,  just might watch on Ifollow

Got Tickets for Harrogate and Stevenage and just glad I'm not off to Priestfield.

Special mention and big respect to those that are. You deserve medals

Maybe not from the fans but the dressing room must be awful when we’re in the form we are
