My only problem with Richie was how he held grudges against people like Omar Bogle who could’ve made a big difference to us - Wellens chose to play without a striker altogether for 5-6 games rather than swallow his pride and bring Omar back from the table tennis table. Now as we all know Omar wasn’t a great centre forward but he was at least a striker by trade - this is what cost Wellens his job imo.

If Bogle was that good how come Newport are not top of the league, with Bogle getting the golden boot? They aren't, he isn't and he was useless. Couldn't even get a shot on target from the penalty spot.

It would be nice if we could get into a position where we might get a penalty these days.

Orient now champions.
And their supporters didn’t get the memo.
Full pitch invasion complete with red flares.

He was a guest on Football League highlights show last night, and when asked about preparing for League 1 he said he'd been there before but had probably the lowest budget in the League - especially at Doncaster where it was really really tough, and now he's looking forward to being there with a competitive budget.

A couple of reflections on that, firstly it seems contrary to the impression we get from the club in terms of available finance, and secondly (and most importantly) if we only pump investment on a period basis why on earth would we let Schofield be the one to bust the bank and shape the next few years of the club? I'm genuinely worried that we're on a course now which can only end in disaster. This might be the owners last hurrah in terms of investment and we're wasting it on desperate Danny.

I dont buy into this from RW that we had one of the lowest budgets in the league. If that was the case why take the job in the first place? Fair play to him for winning the league with Leyton Orient, fully deserved, but he was a disaster for us, as proved with the signings he made for us have not been any good even in League 2.

He wasn't my cup of tea, he was an awful bully and his presence racing too and from the touchline was a distracting pantomime. That being said, both appointments since have been much much worse, culminating the current clown-show.

Well Copps did say inadvertently yesterday that DS didn’t have money to spend. How RW can blow all the budget on four player this has been said then the budget must have been small. The agreements for players and contracts will have been been agreed by the the CEO sand Chairman so they would have said something. The budgets have been small for along time this was seen by the players we have signed.

I could be wrong but I'm almost sure he said he had the lowest budget in the league at Doncaster, on The EFL programme last night.

If he did, he must have spent every penny of it on Rowe and Close, who both would have been on very healthy wages.

It’s a hard one to judge. The end result of that season suggests he’s right but he does have a vested interest in making it sound like it wasn’t his fault.

I just don’t see how we could be spending less than Accrington, Burton, Cheltenham, Morecambe, Cambridge, Crewe, Gillingham and Wimbledon.

Only way I can level it in my head without saying he’s lying is that he means the budget was already allocated to contracted players I.e. he didn’t have a lot of spare money to sign new players.

Even that is a stretch I’m sure we had barely any contracted players after Moore.

He didn’t complain when he was here, he even commented that the playing budget was bigger than he was expecting.

Tiago Çukur and Rodrigo Vilca.

Çukur is on loan at F.C.V. Dender E.H. in the Belgian second tier, and has managed 4 goals this season.

Orient going up as champions  is not news of course. But I’ve just been reading and seen the footage of the end of the game at their game at gillingham.
Utterly bizarre scenes.
With about 10 mins left there is a power cut so play stopped.
During this power cut the orient team realise they are going up and start to celebrate .when play re starts, neither team seems interested in playing and the ref ends the game on the grounds that it is no longer competitive.
I wonder how those who had placed bets on the game felt about this. ?
There is no way you would see this in the prem, there would be a massive enquiry.

Fenerbahçe have moved him on permanently, after not making much of an impression either there or any of his several loan moves. Amazingly though, he has landed an ok gig, with a three year deal at Roda JC Kerkrade in the Eerste Divisie (Dutch second tier). They only just missed out last season on promotion to the Eredivisie.

Based on what I saw of him at Rovers I am astonished that he gets any kind of pro footballer deal.

And at Roda Kerkrade too. Always had a soft spot for them after Dutch Uncle drove me past their ground some decades ago. Decent town. Decent middlingly small club. They've dropped one here though.
