230 less fans
« on April 23, 2023, 10:07:19 am by Upton Rover »
Amazing that yesterdays attendance was the 2nd lowest home attendance this season in the league, yet it was only 230 lower than the opening game of the season, so credit the 5000 fans that have stuck it out this season, it will be interesting to see what the attendance is for the last game.
I won’t be there because of how hurt I am , but was there for the first game with great expectations.

Not a chance 5000 attended yesterday, looking round it was more like 4000.

Do they count the ST's at Rovers whether they attend or not Upton ?

They do over here , they gave out some attendances last season at 13k and it was laughable .

Bet there wasn't even half of that in the ground .

You could see practically the whole of Barnsley FC written in the seats in the East Stand lower .

I’m unsure where they get the attendance figures from, but I’ve just looked at yesterday’s highlights (not many) and got to say that the stadium doesn’t look 1/3rd of the capacity

STH's must be included as when I show my ST the gate often clicks through twice. Or maybe that's how they get to the inflated figures? ;)

ST are added to the figure straight away. I’m guessing the clicks of the turnstiles don’t count now and it’s all done electronically with tickets scanned.

Based on actual attendance that was the lowest ever I'd say. Really concerned our HOF isn't bothered about this. He's lucky next season's budget is being bankrolled by Bramall and not based on revenue from STs.

Would be interesting if they released turnstile attendance rather than theoretical. Must know the number of people in the building for fire safety so someone knows how low it is.

There were plenty of Rovers fans at Rossington, people staying away from suffering watching Donny,

I went yesterday, but didn’t go to the opening game, so that theory is open to interpretation

As a fan, other than blind loyalty, why on earth would you want to pay money and watch DRFC at the minute? There’s no enjoyment or excitement at all.

The south stand was packed for the opening game. There's a video of the second goal. What a sight.

How many fans have we lost. New fans/kids not on board the last 3 years with COVID and 2 years of garbage.

My reason to go on the opening game of the season, was largely excitement been the first game of the season, with the hopes of putting the previous poor season behind us, how wrong was I, and the reason why I never went yesterday, is to show my disapproval of the poor running of the club, it’s not just the issue with the first team coach it’s many issues that’s caused the club’s turmoil, and I can’t see a turnaround anytime soon.
2023 as been a nightmare 21 league games and only 5 wins, with 2 games left

The loyalty our fans show is beyond admirable in my opinion.

Yet management have the gall to blame the fans for the club's downturn. I.e. fan negativity is to blame for our poor results.

Makes my blood boil.

Didn’t Silent Majority state in a previous thread very recently that season Ticket sales only represented 5% of Club Donny income? In turn another poster worked out therefore that Club Donny earns around £30 million a year?
If this is the case a couple of things jump out at us.
A) The fans are not really much of an earner so who cares about them. Enough will turn up to tick along.
B) If £30 million a year is earned, that’s like Rovers winning promotion to the premiership once every 3 years. Obviously that’s not going to happen, so who leading the business cares where the team are league wise?
Happy to understand any clarity on these figures, as they seem surprising.

Pure guess - but I thought just @3000 there yesterday.
I sit in West stand so cant make judgement really (other than realising concourses deserted & plenty of spare seats around) but the msin difference from previous games was South stand

Basing all that on another poster estimating what the income would be is your big mistake. Absolutely miles out.

Ive never noticed it that empty for a league match before(outside of covid) from where i sit you get a decent view of the whole ground and it looked very sparse, god knows what came in through the gate but it was nowhere near the official claim.

Next week could be interesting, i'm betting the ground will be so empty that any thought of a players parade around the pitch after the match will be pointless which would be a good thing really as the comments shouted from any individuals left could be very cutting to the club.

From the south stand the East and West ones also looked very empty when compared to previous weeks.
No way were there 5000 people in the ground.

Me and my son weren't there due to illness (me) and work (him) and we've both got season tickets so were probably counted.

My brother still went and said our area of the West Stand was very sparse. Many regulars not there.

ST holder, couldn't make yesterday & can't make next Saturday either. It would normally bother me but not in the slightest at the moment.

I was there on Saturday and a mate went with me.
I won't be there this Saturday as there is a family do on and I can't squeeze a trip over on the afternoon in.
Barring dropping out of the league this is the worst season or most disappointing since I startend watching in 1958. Maybe closely followed by 1966/67.
The good thing is that the mate who I now meet up with at games lives in Donny and will normally go when I come across, so that's one fan returned to the fold.

I wasn't there on Saturday yet received an e-mail last night thanking me for attending and would I mind filling in a short survey to rate my experience!!

So yes,ST definatly counted if you don't go.
