Brought back a few fond memories seeing him tottering around the pitch coaching the Walsall lads. He has a very distinctive way of walking brought on by a few bad injuries in his playing days I believe.

Neil Warnock has just finished his stint at Huddersfield..!   :chair:

...and Rovers have oft maintained the position of not wanting to prise a manager from an existing job where he'd have to break his contract to join us. Could the timing be a pure coincidence?

I played in the Brian Makepeace testimonial (last game at OBV). I was marking ROK when the ball went out of play, he grabbed me and 2 other lads and said "Right here is where my career finished, i got my leg broken and couldnt recover".

Those around Doncaster best keep an eye out for Gary Megson he might eventually get the nod and achieve his lifetime ambition of managing Doncaster Rovers

Did Copps and McCann have a falling out whilst they were both here or after McCann left?

But the same Alan Nixon said McCann was going to be appointed by Oxford United just 2 months ago.....

Indeed, take it with a pinch of salt.

I want someone of his style though who'll play attacking and exciting football, preferably without a back 5.

Let's get back to basics. More physical, more pace, more attacking tactics.

Cowley’s 100% NO

Disaster waiting to happen imo.

Robinson not right for this job. Ok if we were a good side in League 1 possibly.

We don't want Cowley, did well but wants millions to spend, its why he left Lincoln.

Which is ironic as he's had greater success at potless Lincoln than any of the bigger clubs he's managed since.

They weren't potless when he was there though, they burned money faster than any other at the time.

But reality bites, and sustainability is the key message today.

As I’ve said on another thread, given the timeline (10 days or less) I’d be amazes if the club haven’t had discussions with McCann.

McCann will have realised (surely) that given his experiences at Hull & Peterborough the grass is not always greener. If he’d stayed at Rovers & ‘finished the job he started’, he could well have been up there with the McMennemy’s, Penney’s & Bremners of Rovers best beloved managers.

I’ve purposely left Sean out of that group. We’ll never see his like here again.

Alan Nixon (who's usually fairly reliable) seeming convinced McCann is imminent.

Rob Staton (Radio Sheff) also reporting on Twitter that "the aim" from the club is to get McCann.
