That seems fair for us. If we carry on recruiting as we are, we should have a decent shot at competing for the play offs.

With the owners, the stadium, Club Doncaster, and the manager we have, in the bottom tier of the EFL, that's unambitious IMO.

We should be aiming at the automatics this season.

7/4 to finish in the top 7. Not much brass to be made there if anyone fancies a flutter.

20/1 to win the league might be worth a flutter.

If GM gets the rest of his recruitment then we will be challenging for those top 3 places definitely.

Not many people including the bookies thought Leyton Orient would win the league or that Stevenage would finish 2nd.

The bookies had Bradford Stockport and Salford top 3 I think last Summer.

I hope McCann can get us up next season and the early recruitment is definitely positive.

But this league is far more competitive next season than this, and remember all those fantasists on that thread last summer saying we would win the league or go up automatically?

Let’s get realistic about how hard this league will be next season and how much of a rebuilding job McCann has to do this summer.

That play-off final today showed how bloody awful this league is. Apart from odd patches, the passing and ball control was terrible, worse than what you'd see in the National League.

It might be worth noting that Stockport dropped 5 points last season to the worst Rovers side in 25 years.

I'm expecting us to be much, much better this coming season.

It’s all relative Steve. Stockport had 10 men in the home game and then were all over us in the away game. In terms of the management and squad quality we were absolutely miles off last season.

For this coming season, we are 1 of 9 clubs that will be in a position to go for it. There is still a lot of recruitment left and we will face competition from the other clubs for the good players. Can’t be complacent. 2 out of 3 smart signings so far…

The odds at the start of the season don’t always reflect the league table at the end of it.
At the start of last season Carlisle were second favourites to be relegated to the NL.

Hartlepool and Rochdale were the two favourites for relegating and they both got relegated.

I’ve got to say that when I look at that list of teams I can’t help thinking ‘how the heck did we end up amongst this lot’.

Yep, that’s true but I did say that the odds don’t always reflect the end of season outcome and Carlisle were the case in L2 last season.

I never looked at the relegation odds but I thought Rochdale might make 8th because they had That defender John we released plus the bloke we had on loan for five minutes before he got injured - (at that time the West Brom fans thought he should be in the first team I recall).

I just found his name Rayhaan Tulloch

he played just 7 matches for Rochdale  before jumping ship  then went to Dundalk on loan where he scored 5 in 15

I reasoned Rochdale would still have one or two better players

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rayhaan_Tulloch

presumably he is still a WBA player ?   I had Leicester 5th bottom - with no chance of relegation for what it's worth

MK Dons at 14/1 is a bargain. They retained 19 players and weren’t expected to go down. Eisa, Kemp and Grigg can score lots of goals at this level. They’ve just signed a solid midfielder in Gilbey as well.
