Makes no difference to the result, but that first goal came from a free kick that should have gone our way

All three goals were crossed into the box and we were an absolute shambles.

1st goal. Not a free kick. But Westbrooke has to be making more effort in getting out quicker to Bostock to stop the cross coming in.

2nd goal. Headed in from 4 yards out with keeper stuck on his line. Lawlor must be coming out to claim the cross.

3rd goal. Rowe caught upfield. No. 7 allowed to run and run. Broadbent not quick enough to get across to close him down. Whole team backs off and backs off - Mr Wood? No way Rob Jones would allow a team to do that. Then a ridiculous Superman flap from the Keeper overcompensating for his earlier error for goal 2? Shambles all round

Notts County's first 3 efforts on goal. Not a particularly attacking looking team. Easy peasy for them I'm afraid.

And no one within about 10 yards of the bloke putting the cross in.

I watched a band last night in O’Donegans in town called the Low lights, they were more entertaining.

Just watched Grants post match interview, I can’t make my mind up if he is seething, or just realising the task he has got himself into.

The latter. He knows we are in bother and there’s a lot of hard work to do, which ultimately may not transpire to anything.

....and in the case of the first goal, we had seven outfield players with three yards of the scorer but no one could stop him volleying into the net.

Lawler was overcompensating for his defenders with feet in concrete just staring at each other. At least he tried to take responsibility for the ball, unlike our vampires shatting  themselves at a cross yet again and again and again and again the entire match.

All three goals were avoidable and should have been defended better.  The first goal was just shocking - no challenge on the cross and this was further compounded by the inability of around 6 or seven Rovers players to take responsibility and clear the incoming cross.  The second was pretty much the same as the cross was unchallenged and the cross when it came was 'left' by the three players in attendance and again the county player helped himself.  The third was more of the same.....   We need someone to take control - I thought Wood was that man, but it's the same shambles as last year...

I personally think we are in the brown stuff unless the group can get some organisation and discipline about themselves.....  also think we need a sitting midfielder to give a line of protection, break up the play and fill the gaps in the centre...

Christ almighty I've just watched that first goal again.

We truly look two divisions off the required standard.

We are set up with 7 defenders deep in the box. When Bostock plays that free kick back, every one of our players forgot about him and fixed their attention on the ball. They had players moving in every direction giving their lad options because not one of our players took up positions to deny them the options.

Giving a player with the ball playing ability of Bostock 15 yards to measure his cross when they rolled the simple ball back to him is bad enough.

But then when the cross comes in, our 7 deep defenders are static and watching their lad ease through the middle of them.

That's frighteningly bad on so many levels.

We were badly unbalanced in the way we set up to defend the action. Even if our players outside the box had the intelligence and physicality to cut off the Bostock option (and its scarily clear we have neither intelligence nor physicality in our team) they had two players in acres of space to their right because we were totally overmatched.  Abd then the lack of anyone taking the responsibility to get tight to the lad in the box is just the icing on the cake.

I've no idea where we go from here. We're set up badly and we look like a team of kids looking round for a grown up to take responsibility.

I said two weeks ago that we were mo better than last season and got slaughtered for it. Anyone not seeing that now is deluding themselves.

McCann in his post-match interview basically made that point. We left a guy who scored 10 gazillion goals last season with freedom of city of Doncaster in box. He looks really f**ked off, which is more than we have seen for about every manager since well him.

5 games into the season with 1 very good performance and 2 very bad performances the other 2 were ok.
We’re a much better team for me, and in spells we’ve shown it,
It’s baffling that people can come to conclusions that the team is no better after one game, absolutely crackers

We were only OK against Harrogate. If it's Mansfield you're saying we were OK against we were very lucky to draw.

We were lucky to draw, but we were playing against probably the best side in the division so did ok.
Harrogate we did ok and deserved at least a draw

Dickos, for three seasons now you've been arguing that things will turn out better than everyone else on here can see.  You have been proved wrong on every count and yet you persist.  You know what they say about doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results...?

You’re incorrect there I’m afraid.
It’s been a lot longer than 3 years,
Even under sod and Saunders, ferguson, mccann we had the same old people slagging the team and manager.
So definitely haven’t been proven wrong on every count,
Slagging off this team and this manager after 4 games is probably the most ridiculous negativity of the lot

The last three season, Dickos, the las three seasons.  You even get that simple concept wrong.

Yep
You’re missing my point though.
I’ve been arguing against negative folk for a lot longer than 3 seasons.
Plenty were reacting like this under sod, under Saunders, under mcCann, so my point being the same people are always negative sometimes they’re correct sometimes they aren’t.
Same With being positive too but I know what I’d rather be

This pigeon-holing into “positive” vs “negative” really doesn’t help.

I have faith in the manager and his judgement and believe it is too early to be jumping to any major conclusions or writing anyone off, but we also clearly have some very legitimate problems as a club and team that need to be spoken about. I certainly hope McCann and his staff aren’t avoiding these issues in the name of “being positive”

I agree with this
But there’s a lot of overly negative rubbish on here and elsewhere after only 5 games of the season.

Nobody sentient can say it has been anything other that four league games and four largely poor performances. That’s just a fact, as the manager himself acknowledges. If anyone argues against that, reality then all hope is lost for them.

It’s also true that this doesn’t mean we are relegation certainties either.
