Such a shame that money isn't donated to homelessness but rather on importing poverty https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-67076914
Colombia, and Colombians, is the most generous nation I have ever seen. It's people ditto. Would Britain, if 2.5 million people walked into the nation because their homeland is being raped by a vicious megalomaniac next door in Caracas, give each and every one of them a 10 year permit to stay with access to jobs, education, health care? Colombia has. Would Britons, regularly, over a prolonged time period, put their hands in their pockets to give succour to destitute families who have ALL, including babies, had to walk a thousand miles or more? Colombians do, and their pockets are nowhere near as deep as those belonging to Britons. Britain is nowhere near being the most generous nation. Think about Germany as another example. German generosity is another example of a nation whose compassion and willingness to help puts Britain to shame.BobG

We involve ourselves in everyone else's business to the determent of our own downtrodden and unfortunate folk. Where does this attitude get you in the world and what does it bring to us for our billions in overseas aid? When you factor in our personal charity donations as nation they are either at or very near the top, i do wonder what percentage is overseas aid in our charity donations compared with internal.I'd hazard a guess we give more to animal causes than we do to the really downtrodden.Nothing that Mr Starmer wont fix!!

Sounds like he has his priorities in the right order.

If we're on about benefits, ponder, if you will, the wonderful ability to make your 16 year old child, at school and with university on the horizon, a director of your personal services company with one share in their name That immediately allows you to 'pay' them 12 grand a year tax free. It allows you to give another tax free grand as a dividend on that share, and, what's more, all except the dividend then avoids corporation tax too! Benefits? The middle classes have more than their fair share. BobG

BobGBOB, many years ago I had a Labour supporting boss who more or less did the same thing with his son.He also paid his wife a wage for working in accounts when she never even came to the building, long before working from home became commonplace. It’s not just the Tories who do stuff like that.
It is just the Tories. What Labour government has ever legalised theft from the state like that? What your boss did is utterly irrelevant. BobG
