Bit disappointing that, night games are a pain for us and the kids will miss out.  Saturday would have been better but there we go.

Actually love the odd Friday night game personally. But that's my own personal preference.

Don’t understand that.
I think we would get a better gate on Sat afternoon.

That's a drive across Leeds on the Friday afternoon for me.
An early start needed.  :(

Agree. I think for every person we'll gain who might not have made it on Saturday, we'll lose twice as many who can't make night matches or are out on the p*ss with work/mates.

I have very sympathy for those Rovers who now have to fight traffic etc to get to the game, selfishly though I can't wait - Friday night matches are synonymous with our clubs history for me

Friday night? Under the lights? Just before Christmas?

Local derby?

Isn't it?

Marvellous.

Night matches don't have the same effect as when they were at Belle Vue.

Night matches don't have the same effect as when they were at Belle Vue.

They were special nights especially during the windy miller days

Really? Crewe JPT semi, Southend play off semi, loads of big league games etc etc etc....

Unless you mean the effect of freezing your nuts off and or getting p"ss wet through??

I just hope I can hold myself together long enough on this Mad Friday following a few sherbets in the afternoon!

Bellevue was small enough to look full. Tuesday night games see the east stand empty. No away fans unless a massive team.

It just felt better on a night at Belle Vue.

When the Keepmoat is full and 3k in the away end it sure is better though. Don't get me wrong belle Vue was hardly electric atmosphere like some people seem to think

We got 12.000 for the Crewe game & 13.000 for the Southend game though DBR so fantastic atmosphere.

How many will we get on a Friday night in Dec in League 2 when we are 19th in the league. ( hopefully higher by then )
Bradford will bring around 2.500 where as on a Saturday they would bring over 3.000 i would think
How many of our fans will come?
A lot depends on the Crewe, Colchester, Accrington & Morecambe results before that match and also the Posh result in the Cup.

If we get 7 or more points from those 4 league games then I think we will get 6.500 min home fans but on the Saturday I would think 7.500 is possible even 2 shopping days before Christmas.
If our results are not too good then 5.500 home fans on a Friday is likely.
So our gate on the Friday will be anything between 8.000 & 9.000 in all probability.

Saturday game attendances have always suffered the competition with Xmas shopping outings .

That’s sh*t for me, we booked tickets to see a Christmas Carol at our local theatre in June  when the fixtures came out (they sell out v quickly!) - we always go the weekend before Christmas, a kind of family tradition - and made sure it didn’t clash with the rovers game!!! B*ll*cks!!  :headbang: :headbang:

Well, here’s the answer as to why the date was changed.
After chatting to Gavin Baldwin today via email this morning. Agreed by him that this can be shared.

“‘It’s at Grants request. Notts County have brought their match v Stockport forward to the Friday night as well. This is so we can give the players the same level of rest as Notts County before we play them on Boxing Day”

It mucks up my plans as well, but if it helps Grant then I’ll go along with it on this occasion.

The wonders of communication, give people the facts and reason’s why, be it tactical or cost of closing a stand etc, etc and it will reduce bad or negative feeling towards the club. The majority of fans (customers) will then totally ‘get it’.
Simples!
Well done Rovers for the explanation.
