They played someone in the replay who was ineligble for the first tie. Some presumably someone who was either suspended or out on loan.Yes the secretary should have known. But so should the manager and coaching staff.
Don't think it would have happened when the Clynes were running the club.
Great for Horsham though - presumably they pick up the prize money for going through
School boy error
I find the ‘fans deserve better’ an interesting phrase. We hear this a lot from our friends in Sheffield and Merseyside at the moment. But what makes any fan in the PL/FL any more deserving of a well run club/success or anything else, than another? Are Everton or Wednesday, or Barnsley fans particularly charitable or law-abiding? Did we not ‘deserve’ Richardson, or was it just the result of a mixture of poor management/governance over decades, lack of local interest/engagement in DRFC, FA incompetence and sheer bad luck? That said, perhaps the least we should deserve is basic administrative competence for the money we pay. I can imagine it’s pretty frustrating for Barnsley fans.

I've just caught up with this and can't believe what I've read! This is absolutely crazy and embarrassing for Barnsley FC but I think that they've handled as best as they could under the circumstances. They've held their hands up and admitted to it which is all that they could do to be honest. As for Barnsley, I've had a bit of a soft spot for them since spending 2 weeks with some of their fans at the Spain '82 World Cup. They were a great bunch of lads, especially when they saved us from a kicking by some very angry Bristol City fans who, for some reason, had taken a serious dislike to Donny Rovers in Bilboa after the England v France game.
