Cash or Cashless society

This is a topic which to my knowledge has never been covered on here and I'm curious what everyone's thought are?

It is very well known that they are trying to discourage us from using cash but it intrigues people whether it is a tactic to try and impose control on us by making us a cashless society.

For example freezing people's bank accounts and you don't have access to your money.

And it is well known for local businesses the transaction charges are very extortionate and try and encourage consumers to use cash where possible.

Of course there is the shop local thing rather than using rich corporation like Amazon and using them where possible which is of course better for the local economy as well.

It's cheaper for me to get paid in cash and then take that cash to my suppliers to pay my account up at the end of the month.
I also find it easier to keeps tabs on what I'm spending on materials for the bigger jobs.
Plus, and be honest everyone, when you have a tradesman in to do work for you, would you rather pay the extra 20% vat or not?

Yeah I probably worded that wrong. What I meant was that some  people get the hump because they think we're dodging tax that we should pay on profits........ But when the old boiler packs in the week before Christmas "oh will cash make the VAT go away?"

Some places now actively discourage cash payments, have you ever tried to pay cash in a restaurant these days, they look at you like you just landed from Mars.

Car parks are another head scratcher, even most fair grounds refuse to take cash!

Looks like the trajectory of travel is now all one way and will become more so, i can see cash becoming a very rare thing in the next few years. It will be a sad day for some, for others they will barely notice the difference.

The danger with more cashlessness is that it makes it harder for a government to control the money supply as part of macroeconomic strategy.

I always take cash to a restaurant.  Usually pay the bill by card but always give the tip in cash.  How else can you be sure the tip will be passed on to the staff?

Going totally cashless leaves societies open to hostile nations shutting down our means of living.  We should never allow that situation to arise.

I always take cash to a restaurant.  Usually pay the bill by card but always give the tip in cash.  How else can you be sure the tip will be passed on to the staff?

Already happened in Canada with protesting truck drivers.

Went to draw a not small sum of cash from the Nationwide the other day. It was like 20 questions at the counter from the lady behind the screen about who I was and what I wanted my money for. I left feeling like a criminal.

More towards the end of the clip and it states like if you donated towards a strike fund or an organisation which isn't complicit with what the government stand for they could freeze your bank account.

If anyone else Banks with HSBC, today you will know why we shouldn’t go cashless, I’ve needed to transfer money between accounts but the HSBC app has been and still is down all day!

Cash is King. You control your own finances with cash.

My 2 sons are now 26 and 28.
Some years ago, around the time they got bank accounts, we did a little exercise with them. It was on a shopping trip. We got them to draw out £100 each. And when we went shopping I got them to get their cash out every time they spent. Each time counting and seeing what they had left.
At the end of the day both admitted that there was stuff they would have bought had they just used a card. But thought twice knowing what affect purchases made on actual cash in their pocket.
