Never mind Jones what the Hell were Close and Bailey doing for the last goal.
Biggins and close we’re at fault for the last goal, both left their man and let them run.

Jones wasnt at fault with any of them, looking back he will think all were saveable but all close range and hit low and hard. They shouldn’t have even got into a goalscoring position with either of them, poor defending.
Sorry I stand corrected you’re right Biggins.

Close was doing what he has been doing since he came to the club.  And the same things the Portsmouth fans moaned about  before he came here.

It doesn’t matter who you mention in midfield, Selby, they’re all much of a muchness. Not one of them can do a good defensive midfielder impression. Only Bailey can do that and he’s becoming too valuable IN the defence.

Alan, I can agree with that and unfortunately injury stops Faulkner being considered and giving Bailey the freedom to play the position he was destined for.
But, in Faulkner's case the injury is not the whole story, after the way he has played and god forbid being a good consistent defender the games he has played, and being no part of what has been dished up at the back this season being ignored when fit, shows a marked lack of trust in youth coming through the ranks, and is being perpetuated ignoring Flint who is a player recognised as a mid fielder/central defender.. and never gets a sniff and could release Bailey.
I don't trust the players who play at whatever their age is currently in central defence other than Wood who in the right set up is a very good defender, who has been asked to play a way he has not played in his long career, and would be the ideal player for those two to play alongside. I have also seen enough to know the others regularly make mistakes most games that have cost us in games this season and also in the last two seasons, and they are also susceptible to injury.
I hope you will forgive me for thinking we are missing something, and that being trust of young players in certain positions.

Hasnt Bailey said he plays better in a back 3 rather than midfield?

he’s said that he prefers playing in midfield cos he’s more involved but believes he’s better at centre half.

He played a few times in midfield early on in the season didn’t he? Feel like we struggled to move the ball forward in those games but maybe he’d be better partnering Westbrooke or Close who can play more.

Think he would have been playing with Rowe and Biggins before who aren’t really ball players

I'd keep Bailey at the back.

We should also try to copy that routine Crewe used to get their CH in a position to score. He'd be ideal to use like that.

Selby for manager!
Get Bobby playing in every position in the starting line up

Brian, there seems to be a lot of criticism of GM in that post.

Do you think he's not the man to take us forward?

Bailey in midfield would be stronger. But the goals on Saturday all came from near post shots with Jones never trying to get his hands on the ball. Every goal he finished on his backside never looked like saving them. We should not conceded 3 goals all starting with players not tackling wide midfield and finished with Jones looking poor. Let’s hope if selected he does better tonight.
