The sad tale of the Gnome and the Tw@
« on December 26, 2023, 08:58:45 pm by ravenrover »
The Gnome was confiscated by the Tw@. Its been to every ground Paul has been to but the jobsworth today confiscated it, and people wonder why we lost
Have to say he was a proper little Hitler, the Supervisor that is, he kept popping up at various points during the game being very officious.
I've not seen as many Security, Marshals and Supervisory at other away games I've been to in the past few years as there was today
I hope Paul got the Gnome back back after the game, he was not a happy bunny. Paul that is not the Gnome.

Was this the same guy interrogating someone on the stairwell blocking it off, wasn’t impressed when I pointed out the keep left sign going down - hope the gnome has returned

Pleased to hear this. What a ridiculous state of affairs though!

I hope Notts Co are made aware just how petty their stewards make them look.

The worst and most officious stewards I came across as a Rovers away game were at Hillsborough in the 1-0 win when Macedo headed the winner from a Copps cross.
Some of them spent the whole game just staring at Rovers fans and (in my opinion) looking for the slightest excuse to go in and escort fans from the ground.

yes   got him back,
thank you
 his boss
got me to show the gnome to the camera, and instantly  said  not allowed, id been taking photos in stand for about 15 mins
he came over in stoppage time in 2nd half and brought it back, said i should get written permission next time, then said he recognised me , turns out his a steward at Trent Bridge, and we had taken the gnome into a couple of cricket matches there, with no prob,, i told him only them and Gillingham had banned it, even if i was Geoff Capes(for you older fans , i could not have  thrown the gnome that far,may have even posed with the gnome, trying to find photos  lol.,, and he said only county and Gills were doing there job properley  lol
i could not have thrown at any county fans  they let the rattle in, and flags in county end.

The strangest conduct by a steward I ever witnessed was at Scunthorpe a few years ago. About half an hour before kick-off, a female steward approached someone near me and told him to sit down. He politely protested that the game hadn't even started yet, and she responded by saying "Don't call me a fat bas**rd!" She then called for other stewards to assist her and after a discussion with nearby witnesses who insisted that she'd made the whole accusation up, they all withdrew, including the female steward!

For her to make that accusation it surely was obvious the insult bore some truth.  Guessing she qualified on both counts.

A MK Dons steward wanted to take my grandson’s rovers flag from him because he claimed that the pole can’t be more than a metre long, I told him that it was a yard long and he didn’t have a clue to the difference in length.

Ha, the daftest comment I have had from a steward was also at Scunthorpe.
Three of us were in our seats about 20 minutes before kick off when another person complained we were in their seats.
I can’t remember exactly what they were but let’s say F30, F31 and F32.
The lowest row of seats was Row A.
We double checked and told the other person we were in the correct seats so he went to get a steward to move us.
We pointed out that the seats were in Row F and that we were in the numbers 30,31 and 32.
We counted the rows back from A to F but the steward insisted we should be one row further back.
When we walked to the front with him and counted out loud that the front row was A, then five more rows back to F he still didn’t change his opinion and justified it by saying that the lowest row wasn’t row A but was in fact “front row”.

It sounds like it wasn't you that ate all the pies.

I heard all the  conversation, along with a few others, and her claim was purely fabricated.

Sorry BB, I wasn't in any way challenging your account.  The meaning in my head doesn't always express itself through my fingers.

Good luck with that defence. Never worked for me at 2am outside Rotters.
