I am going to Newcastle today to watch a game, inspection 9-30am this morning game on. Our game was not called off because of the weather Bradford had other reasons not to play IMHO including a cup game for both sides a couple of weeks away.

Oh look. That tin pot club Farsley Celtic game is called off. Can stop the conspiracy theories of why the game was called off

On the Bradford forum the natives have passed comments on the postponement, there’s also a photo of the pitch covering and rather strangely the “ home” penalty area and parts of pitch either side aren’t covered ?? I can’t find out why it’s not

The cold has set a slight permafrost in large areas of the country.this will be exasperated by areas of most pitches being in shade. VP has large areas of shade that get no sun, esp at this time of year. The sun has been on my back garden all day today. And yet it’s still solid underfoot , even with daytime highs of 4 degrees. With daytime highs in Bradford tomorrow at ko time not forecast to be above 5 or 6 this was absolutely the right call. And how refreshing to get a game called off well in advance, instead of 10am of match day, (or later) when some supporters are already on their way.

Permafrost???  I suggest you look up what permafrost is.

Why would Bradford want the game called off? It's not like Rovers are by any means in some sort of frightening form!

So is the ground still frozen in Bradford?

The city is still frozen in the 1970s so I doubt there has been much change yet in the pitch.

Doesn’t matter if the ground is still frozen or not. It’s off.

Well here we go again , Stevenage arranged a pitch inspection for 11am this morning and I presume the referee has now called for another pitch inspection at 1 pm .

Here's the thing , we've sold the away end out this afternoon to the tune of 1300 travelling reds and both pitch inspections haven't taken that in to account given the vast majority would have set off earlier this morning .

Both the matches at Harrogate and York have been postponed in the last hour so it’s looking like BCFC called it right yesterday.

Calling it right or wrong isn’t the issue, they didn’t even give it a chance

Of course they did. They looked at the weather etc.Don’t get why some people are so transfixed with this, all because it was called of yesterday. And the proof is in the pudding, other games called of today that are close by.

you don’t think they might have half an idea what they’re doing?

how do you think they may thaw it out? Leave it under the sheet frozen with trapped cold air underneath, or let this tropical 6 degrees try to do its thing? God there’s some tripe on here.

Think the main issue is is that Bradford claim to be a big club and trade on their past in the premier League when really they are no better than the rest of league 2.

Should they have waited until say 11 this morning maybe, would it have changed anything? probably not but I guess it would have looked like they tried to get it played as it just looks like they wanted a weekend off

That's exactly what should have happened Hound .

Surely the local forecast for today  and the pitch already frozen had to come in to play .

Never heard so much whinging in my life.

It was obvious the correct decision was made as every other game in our area outside the top 2 leagues are now OFF.

Stevenage called their game off at 1.00 pm
So how would you feel if you were a Barnsley fan having to do a U Turn somewhere south of Peterborough or those that had already done the full 150 mile journey from Barnsley.
That is a disgrace, what Bradford did was the sensible and considerate option. END OF   :that:

For those who have commented on how stupid it was to call game off yesterday,on twitter Bradfords groundsmen takes you round the pitch this morning..solid as a rock in places..As he says experience told him yesterday regardless of temp today it wasn't playable..

The pitch looked shocking to be fair. We wouldn’t have been able to go there and play good football on that. Whereas they could have just lumped it up to Cook all game.

Also better to go there when we’re on a better run of form.

All good and well getting up at the crack of dawn to walk around the pitch. Pitch would have been fine by midday. Proper investigation from the FA required into this, seems like Bradford have tried to pull a fast one. I hope grant is taking this seriously

Why would they want to pull a fast one? Our league form is hardly brilliant, and they've already pumped us at the Eco.

Regarding the FA, it's nothing to do with them, it's the EFL, and we all saw how much they give a f*ck about us after the Bolton debacle.

Yeah Bradford were quaking I would imagine especially having watched us and looked at our form

So why were the other league games called off then. It’s not as if Bradford was the only game off was it.

Donny Knights game was played today. But then they don't fall down when the opposition brush past them
