Can't sleep so just checking how many would it be for survival this season, 47 should do it. Can we muster 6 wins with a couple draws chucked in from the 19 remaining. Hopefully with the fresh faces in & injured players coming back we'll be ok, just the pessimistic part of me.

And where would 19 wins get us? Ever the optimist.

Ever the optimist I think we will get 6 plus wins and 3 draws and possibly more of each and get or exceed 19 Points

What we really need is for two of those wins to be against Forest Green and Sutton.

Don’t think we will need 19 points

15 I think will do it possibly less.

Forest Green and Sutton will have to pick up a lot of points to get anywhere near 47 this season.

I am hopeful we will win 9/10 of our last 19 games. I don’t think it is unrealistic given the strength of our squad now with people returning from injury and the new recruits this month.
Ever the optimist but still hoping & thinking we can finish in the top 10/12

Put a run of wins together v Sutton, Tranmere, Salford, Grimsby in Feb and we will be well placed for a top 10 finish.
Who says we can’t beat Stockport on Saturday as well.
As far as I know they can only put 11 players on the pitch same as us.
Positive thinking it goes a long way.
If the players believe then anything is achievable.

Both big games Idler. Win both those and win v Salford and Colchester and we can rest a bit easier.
But it’s about all 19 games in reality and how many points we accumulate in total.

As it stands Sutton would need to better rovers average ppg by 0.4 to finish on same points . So if rovers continue on or around 1ppg then Sutton would need 1.4 ppg between now and season end . I would say at least one of the Bottom seven teams will go on a small
Positive run between now and season end . We really need that team to be rovers .

I’m still a bit worried about survival. No matter how well we have recruited, we need some upwards momentum.

Salford seem to be picking up under Karl Robinson.

Colchester have an easier run of fixtures too which may facilitate a new manager bounce.

Mixed bag for Sutton, but they must be getting stronger if they can avoid defeat to Mansfield and Barrow. They are ahead of us on the form table.

But, I think we have enough options for at least 3 attackers to be in form at any given time and causing any side problems. The system should work better. Creativity and urgency in attack has been a real issue again this year.

And Forest Green are down, they are a basket case.

Swindon have now also lost another 2 key players in Hutton and Kinsella. We should be overtaking them.

Grimsby have conceded 11 goals in their last 2 games and might be losing a star player to Bristol Rovers.

Interesting night for Wimbledon last night. Two straight reds for first team right back and centre half. Also their two main strikers are away on international duty . They host Mansfield this sat.

Very unique game for them though. Can’t read too much in to that match in isolation. Huge bad blood. Shit attendance mind.

We can positive think as much as we like, means nothing, results do. We need to start a run going sooner rather than later.

Sad state hof affairs when we are trying to work out where to get points to stay in the league....
It is but if we string three wins together we will be thinking of an outside chance of the last play off spot. We need to keep that buffer zone between us and the bottom two.

We need to steer the ship away from the rocks before we start thinking about crossing the sea.

Maybe if McCann stopped banging on about the play offs and focused the players on staying in the football league we might stand more of a chance.

How’s that work?

Should he be saying “We need 47 points or there abouts boys to stay in this division. We can do this!”

If I was a Bailey or an Ironside who’d been sweating blood for the cause, I be more motivated if my manager said “Everyone’s looking at the table & assuming we’re a bad side. I know you’re not, you know you’re not in fact, while their remains any chance to end the season in a play off spot, which there  bl**dy well is, THAT’S what we strive for game by game. Belief boys, belief”.

I’d run through a brick wall for THAT manager instead of aiming ‘low’ & achieving exactly that for the ‘other’ one.

Well, if we can't scrape together 19-22 points from 19 games to get us to 47-50 to survive, that will be seriously depressing and we'll deserve to rot in the National League.

And it would be an enormous outside chance . 9 points from the next three games would push the ppg average to 1.23. And a continuance of that ppg average would end up with 57 points . With 7th place notts county already on 43 points , playoffs is nothing more than a pipe dream, even if rovers won the next three. Salford finished in 7th in 22/23 season with 75 points . To get that rovers would need 47 points from the remaining 19 games. That’s 2.47ppg from now. Or a season average of 1.63ppg. We are currently at 1.03ppg. It would need a Roy of the Rovers story for this to happen . Even high flying Stockport are only on 2ppg. It’s only when you see the numbers do you realise what shit state the team are in currently , when it comes to gaining points .

The sensible objective is avoiding relegation. The play-offs are unrealistic. I don’t think leaders gain much respect by setting targets that are crazy. Although you can forgive fans!

Personally I feel safety will be somewhere between 35 points and 43, if we can’t achieve that we deserve to go down

Survival is the main aim now. A mid table finish from where rovers are currently would be a major result imo.
The games against FGR, Sutton, Colchester, Grimsby and Salford are huge.
Rovers fate will be decided amongst these fixtures.

Isn’t it around this time of year that BST gets the slide rule out to project the final table?

Got a long train journey next week. Might have a stab at it then. If I can summon the energy. I never expected to be doing it to see what target we needed to avoid playing Aveley and Curzon Ashton.

I thought NR said it was 2 straight reds. If so, they'll both get 3 match bans.

If they were for 2 yellows, they'll get one match bans.
