Brilliant move for him, nice to see a young player going somewhere better than Gainsborough for once. He should get plenty of chances to get his tally up there.

It’ll definitely toughen him up, it’s a proper mesters league

Linfield would be Conference level, but only about three of their opponents would be (IMHO)

Edit: He will come up directly against Ro-Shawn Williams

Grant McCann is a big fan of Linfield as well. I know if I was manager of one of Barcelona a few years back, Messi and Neymar would have found their way to the rovers.

Could be a good indication of how Grant McCann rates him

Current league leaders & 4 times current champions. Their average attendance at Windsor Park is around 3,000.

Grant McCann played for Linfield at the end of his career, lifelong ambition

Belfast is far better night out than Dublin which is far too commercialised and touristy.

Rashford agrees.

Fax machine strikes again. Loan now off as we’ve just realised Goodman would have played for too many clubs this season, and this is a Northern Irish loan. Now we are desperately looking for someone to loan him out to.

Might as well keep him here if Carty is injured.

Ironside looks jiggered, he can barely move at the moment.

I think Adamson is the better prospect in men's football and has the pace and size, good in the air and when on it  can be a real handful with more experience for anybody, and can play wide right in a front three01

Due to red tape not due to injuries so will still probably go out somewhere else.

Lining up a move he was ineligible for? Showing a lack of planning on the part of this lads development. If he ends up not playing between now and the end of the season or playing on a substandard loan he should be livid.

I think he can be loaned to national league.

For example Barnsley had to loan Dallas to Oldham because he couldn’t play for 3 league teams in 1 season I think.

You would think being loaned to a team in another country would be allowed before a team in a lower league

Listen to McCann about the subject, then email him and tell him your conclusion.

He’s only been out on loan in the national league so if he can’t play in NI how can he join another UK side? Seems a daft rule at the lower division level really.

Playing 90mins twice a week is what the the young players need to get them competitive in our squad. Just giving him the odd 10min run out here isn’t going to bring him on much

The problem is not whether NI is politically part of UK (which of course it is), it is that Northern Ireland has its own national membership of FIFA/UEFA, its own club teams qualifying for European club competitions, and thus in the football world Northern Ireland is a different country from England (not UK), as are Scotland and Wales

Agree with that. I’m confused why he can’t sign if that’s the case though

He’s played for us and Gainsborough. Gainsborough are in the northern prem, and playing for them counts as one registration, us a second registration but it’s ok for him to play in the National League as a third but not  Northern Ireland? Doesn’t make sense does it.

Is that maybe because the National League is far enough down the pyramid not to count within the same country? I don't know, just guessing.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. What I am hypothesizing is that maybe within England a player can play for more than two clubs at National League level and below in a season, but that for any international transfer (and NI counts) a player can only play for two clubs at any level, including the one he is about to go to.

If true I don't know whether the English FA have incorporated this rule themselves, or whether other countries have a similar level defined.

It also strikes me, what happens with transfers between countries with totally different seasons (e.g. I think the RoI league is Calendar year)
