Sorry, I wasn't very clear. What I am hypothesizing is that maybe within England a player can play for more than two clubs at National League level and below in a season, but that for any international transfer (and NI counts) a player can only play for two clubs at any level, including the one he is about to go to.

If true I don't know whether the English FA have incorporated this rule themselves, or whether other countries have a similar level defined.

It also strikes me, what happens with transfers between countries with totally different seasons (e.g. I think the RoI league is Calendar year)

I know the three club rule is a FIFA thing, like you say, maybe more stringently imposed internationally.

Yes, it is international regulation. This was the McCann quote yesterday:

"We didn't realise it was going to be an issue because he'd play just once for Gainsborough (Trinity, on loan earlier in season). Now, we could loan him to a National League team over here but if we were to loan him to the Northern Irish league then this rule comes in because it's an international transfer. It's a bit sad really for Jack because that would have been a really good move for him. But it is what it is. We are in a rush to find a club for him but it's got to be the right club and I felt it would have been a really good move for him.“

This is highly unprofessional by the club. A professional organisation needs to know the rules that apply to their club. What a mess for the lad. McCann saying he'd only played once for Gainsborough is just the cherry on the cake. He played for them. Full stop.

Tinpot. I don't know if Goodman will ever become a valuable asset for us, but we seem to be doing our level best to make sure he doesn't. Same with Faulkner. What a cock-up.

It’s these things that wind me up more than anything. It’s the details that matter. If they are overlooking things like this what else are they overlooking. Shows no foresight and or planning as well.

The running of the club is utterly incompetent. That’s why we are where we are. The owners have zero idea how to run a football club, create a sporting strategy or put a system in place that creates continuity and success.

We have been fully reliant on fortune and managers doing a good job at certain times for any success. It will take more than that to get out of this hole and I’m not sure what action they are taking to rectify this apart from applying slightly more money to the problem.

So why can't he go back to Gainsborough, if Russ will take him?

The idea is to get him games in men's football, so that is the easy option.
The level is less important if you want to build confidence and resilience.

There might be a good reason why not that I don't see.

Wait until you see the EFL's statement regarding the Rovers from today.

No move for Goodman then. Can non league teams still loan players from league clubs?

He could still go to a non league club to play some games With six forwards ok only really one number nine he may not even get on the bench . If he went month on month then that would help him

If he can go to a non league club he should. Assume we can recall if we get further injuries. Pointless just as giving him the odd 10min run out in a very poor team. Better for him and us if he plays 90mins

in some of these lower leagues you can have dual registration !!

https://grassrootstechnology.thefa.com/support/solutions/articles/48001146530-full-guidance-transfers-and-dual-registrations#:~:text=Note%3A%20A%20dual%20registration%20allows%20the%20player%20to,alongside.%20Instead%2C%20select%20%27Dual%20Registration%27%20and%20then%20approve.

don't ask me what's what it's all about i just heard on league commentators mentioning it.

Yes you can play for two teams in different leagues.

For instance Kane Simpson began the season a Corsham Town player (Hellenic League) and was then transfered to Frome Town (Southern League). Since then he has played at least 6 times for Corsham when Frome have not had a game.

Signed permanently for Basford United in the Northern Premier League. He had been on loan with them previously.

I’m really sorry Goodman didn’t make it with us.

That’s quite a low level he’s at now but good luck to you lad.
