Yeah but how amazing would a fully fit Close be , playing with all these better players around him ?!!!!!

Grants January recruitment has been top quality,  if he can get any where close in the summer,  coupled with the head of medical now getting on top of injuries, we must be feeling good about next season..
Don't forget that a certain Chairman has been bankrolling Grants identification of talent. Hopefully this will continue into next season with a culling of the current playing staff to free up more funds to bring in the quality of players we need for a promo push

Last 8 games, 17pts out of 24!!!!!  Injuries are not effecting our run due to the strength of the bench.. such a shame about the slow start,

I remember this post of yours on this thread below and now you can see how my ramblings have come home to roost and embaress you

When I fist came across  students studying Ergonomics - i had an "Accrington Stanley Moment " the kid on the milk advert says  Accrington Stanley who the hell are they. I thought what the hell is Ergonomics !

From memory in the early days of Ergonomics  it was defined as something  like "matching the person to the task" or whatever

Sum of ya know that I do a lot of research ande dun't av a lot of time to spare on here.

I have just invented a term "Ergonomic writing "   matching the "quality"  of writing to the intelligenze of the audience - that's what I call "efficient communication" .

A)  if I was in a court of law as say a "McKenzie friend" my prezzentation wud be immaculate.  I would always get my two favourite phrases in a defence. according to the demands of the Civil Procedure Rules

"for the avoidance of doubt" and a sekkond phrase "in the alternative"   - this is a phrase used by lawyers when their 1st pleading falls on "stony ground "and they move onto  to the 2nd pleading and it let's the Judge know the author of the defence knows  "the price of fish"

B) sending a phone text i might deliberately miss the vowels out the aim is to get the message across with the minimum "bit transfer"

C) on this site  i basically don't care a toss about my spelling - in later life one tends to forget (entweder oder) how the word is spelltt
as I said - using the internet makes you lazy and many peeple on 'ere wouldn't know whether a wurd is spellte korrectlie.

Your posting is totally without merit as hopefully you have found out.

As for the use of your word engage - the days of spending 1d to "get engaged in the toilet" are long gone - the usage of the word (an attempt to imply superiority) doesn't impress me - i got the t-shirt probably before you were born

Right we have had a bit of fun - time for me to do some serious work

Aha just the person I need  serious question

are you still in Colombia

have you heard of this casino company out of interest ?

"William Hill opens for business in Colombia
Following the acquisition of a majority stake in the Colombia licensed operator Alfabet S.A.S in December 2020, WilliamHill.co was today launched, making Colombia its first entry in the Latin American market.

Alfabet S.A.S holds a Coljuegos (Colombian gambling regulator) license to offer games of chance and sports betting in the Colombia state. By rebranding the consumer-facing sports book brand BetAlfa.co, William Hill managed to enter the Colombian market within a few months after the acquisition. The launch of WilliamHill.co supports William Hill’s strategy to deliver growth through international expansion and makes Colombia the ninth regulated market where William Hill is currently active."

I appreciate we've improved certain positions with the GK , Adelakun , & Wood retuning but it's no coincidence that we've finally got a functional midfield unit that's making the difference in both defence and attack

I agree but it was Bailey, Broadbent and Biggins today so something must have clicked with the coaching of the team. That midfield gets destroyed and can’t keep the ball a few months ago

ok here are the current odds

5/1 with  sky

11/2 hills

6/1  bet victor

as i have told you all many times sky give you a decent price for a cash out the other two "NOT SO"

let's say if you want to cash out with sky they might want you to give them odds of 7/1

if you had a bet £1 at 5/1 you stand to get £6 back

you would stand to get 75 pence back - because you are giving them odds of 7/1 to their 75 pence

0.75 x 7 =£5.25

6 ( 5+1) divided by 8 (this 8 is 7+1) =0.75

-----------------------------
OK more generally  FOR YOUR £1 BET
you backed at odds of B/1    they offer you  P (pounds if you cash out)  AND CALL THE ODDS YOU HAVE TO GIVE THEM  R/1

THEN          (B+1) DIVIDED BY (R+1) = P

IN MY EXAMPLE B=5    AND P=0.75      (THATS THE 75 PENCE CASH OUT VALUE)

SO SUBSTITUTING THE NUMBERS

(5+1) DIVIDED BY (R+1) = 0.75
6 DIVIDED BY (R+1) = 0.75

SO    6 =0.75 TIMES (R+1)

6 DIVIDED BY 0.75 =R+1

YOUR CALCULATOR WIL TELL YOU .......  6 DIVIDED BY 0.75  =8   so take 1 off and you have given them odds of  7/1

Can’t quite believe we’re in 18th place and yet nearer to the play-off’s than we are the bottom 2.

If that doesn’t tell you how tight this league is, nothing will.

Our 2 games in hand are skewing the (possible) reality of where we could and should be, that is, mid-table.

I can think of 2 games that we lost this season which on another day and with  earlier substitutions we could have very possibly won. If we had won them we would be in sight of the play offs now.

We didn't keep the ball yesterday for a period of more than 15 seconds. If we're serious next season 2 of those 3 won't get us promoted. Bailey is the okay one.

Agreed, without someone like Craig or Westbrook we were lucky to hold on yesterday, we were fortunate that LTL made some good saves, and we were super clinical otherwise it would have been straight back to how the season started.

A goalkeepers job is to make saves, nobody goes away from home everytime and dominates the game. Mansfield have struggled plenty of times away from home and they’re top of the league.
Yesterday was a very good battling performance which is what you need to be successful.

If we continue that form over the next 8 games we could be around the playoffs

I don't think so Dickos - that would give us 63 points with 1 to play. More than 66 will be needed - I reckon between 70-72.

IMHO Morecambe in 12th (54 points from 37 games) are the lowest team to have a real shot. Someone between 7th and 12th will have a good run in.

My model was saying 73 points for 7th place before today. I'd not looked at 7th place before this week, so I don't know how steady that has been.

Just updated my model with this weekend's results.

Currently saying 71 points for 7th place. Down to 70 if Crawley lose tomorrow.

winning 7 drawing 2 would give us 23 more points to add to  the 46 making 69 obviously  with an obviously improving goal difference   seems doable so long as Craig doesn't have a suspension or the goalie doesn't get injured

of course  8-0-1 yields 24  but I'm not greedy

5 home matches & 4 away to go

Barnsley steam rolled into the play offs a while ago and went up at Wembley in that year Altrincham knocked them out of the cup on a friday night when was it they were 2nd bottom in November

So my model is still saying 71 points for 7th place after last night's match.

As you said elsewhere DU, basically zero chance of us getting that.

Although if we win the next three it would get mildly interesting.

The next 2 games are against ‘form’ teams and, in particular, the away game at Crawley looks a really difficult one. Assuming we win on Saturday (which we shouldn’t) then get a win there and things should get really interesting.

However, this is DRFC we’re talking about and since when did we make life easy for ourselves?

I’d be made up if rovers continue this run. And wouldn’t it set next season nicely ?

That is entirely dependent on who stays and who goes, keeping the latest signings may take some serious money.
