Is he a Kyle Knoyle upgrade?

I think you’ll struggle to find a more cultured full back at this level than Sterry.

He was superb last night, getting better all the time. He came with a reputation as a decent player but probably because of injuries it's taken time for him to settle I feel.

I think we’re now seeing how good McCanns recruitment has been.
Bailey, Sterry, Timmy, craig, adelekun, Ironside, wood, top top players at this level.
Improvement of players too, molyneux, biggins, Anderson, Maxwell, are all playing to a far better level than previously

Since coming back from injury, gets better with each game he has played

Senior, Nixon & McGrath haven’t been too shabby either although we haven’t seen a lot of McGrath yet.
I think he will prove to be an astute signing though.

Does anyone know if Nixon still injured as we haven’t heard a squeak about him for quite some time.
Senior I think is almost back to full fitness. Both players don’t have a chance of getting a start in the team with Sterry & Maxwell playing as they are.

He's done exceptionally well. Especially because someone in here the other day was questioning whether the wage bill has gone up.

I don’t know what he’s on but he is looking a great bargain. Given where he came from I don’t think that he will have been draining the coffers too much. It shows that there are players out there if you have the management and scouts to find them.

Wage bill obviously gone up, but some of those signings won’t have been expensive.
The improvement in players doesn’t cost anything either

Sure Nixon was on the pitch at the end ready for a run

Sterry has got better and better. He has been excellent these last two games in particular.
His all-round game in terms of defending, passing and posing an attacking threat has been really good.

That second half back heel, pirouette and “whoops where has he gone” moment was so good to see.

I generally think I can spot potential in players but I hold my hands up and admit both Sterry and Maxwell have exceeded what I thought they were capable of and both look very, very good at their jobs.

I like the tenacity of both Nixon and Senior and thought they would be hard to shift from their positions (injuries aside) but Sterry and Maxwell are different gravy and set a high bar for the two junior full backs to follow with their reading of the game, anticipation and ball retention.

The pair of Gareth Roberts and James O'Connor were my all time faves considering they played at Championship level but I think these two have the potential to match them.

On the subject of Knoyle, good to see he's recovered from that horrific injury earlier in the season and is back in the Stockport team.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the pass Sterry made for the 2nd goal. Fair play to Adelukan’s finish but what a ball to find him! An absolute worldy and worth the entry fee on its own!!

I'm sure I've read it somewhere on here, it was mentioned.
It would be all over Sky Sports if that was Trent AA

He has been immense in this run, superb again last night.

Lets just enjoy him while it lasts as GazLaz said he fakes injuries so that might be just around the corner

That’s an absolutely true story by the way. Fair weather player. No surprise his good performances have come when the team is absolutely flying.
