I've gone Portugal each way.

Much better squad than ours. As much as Rashford and Grealish haven't had good club seasons they are still better than Eze and Gordon. I'd stand out in that Palace side!

Agree about Grealish but i wouldnt have Rashford anywhere near the squad. Gordons very overrated.

It was a disgrace of a performance, friendly warm up to a tournament or not. People have travelled & paid good money to watch their national team play at Wembley. No pattern to their play, no togetherness in the press, & a defence that would have been  taken apart by a good side.

No the game & the result means nothing, as our usual 'get a grip' commenters have pointed out, but what should have been witnessed was a team adding the final touches & looking at least like they know what theyr'e actually doing. It just wasn't there at all. Made me laugh when we made subs, they were coming off high fiving each other, for what? Being 1 down to the mighty Iceland?

Football is a results-based sport whether it is Rovers or England.
2 losses, 2 draws and only 1 win in the last 5 games not good enough. The squad that played against Iceland had no desire to win and was lacklustre at best.

Dunk injured before the game!

That was absolutely dismal. All these so-called superstars, yet another’golden generation’ and we serve up that! Disgraceful.

Zero intensity and, if they didn’t want to play, for fear of injury, then why organise the game in the first place? Hopefully, this is Southgate’s last stand.

Our only saving grace is that Bellingham might show up when the tournament starts!

It’s a friendly, it’s a game where none of the players will be risking injury.
It means nothing

We got to the final of the last euros,
Some folk need to get a grip
Come on dickos. Do you think that was acceptable last night?
The population of Iceland is 350.000 that’s only 40.000 more than DMBC population.
We have managed to lose to them twice in 8 yrs against them.
We had 2 shots on target in 95 mins.

Why people pay good money to travel, buy tickets and all the other costs involved to watch England play in friendlies against minnow countries is beyond me.
Brazil, Argentina, France, Germany, Italy, Spain I can see the attraction but seriously do people think they are going to see an entertaining game against Iceland or their likes.
It’s obvious they are going to get 10 men behind the ball for 85 out of 95 mins and damage limitation is the object of the exercise. Especially when they get an early goal of course.
That’s not entertainment it’s attrition imo.  Rather watch paint dry.

Never said it was acceptable but he should be judged on the tournament not a meaningless friendly

I'll reserve judgement on Southgate, as I will on Starmer, when both of them have to start performing for real.

Yep I’m reserving judgement on Southgate.
If he can get us to a major final for the first time in almost 60 years he’s got my vote
Oh hang on a minute… oh he did, blimey he must be crap then

Portugal lost to a better team than Iceland! Spain winning 5-1 v N. Ireland, by comparison.

I honestly can’t believe the nonsense about a friendly. A week before a euros starts.
Iceland played like it was a cup final and England played at 50%.
We will have bad games in the tournament too, every team always does and then folk will be out again moaning n being negative and then we will play well and it’ll be because the opposition aren’t very good anymore, then we will probably lose in a semi or a final and it’ll be Southgate’s fault.
It’s all very predictable

We were over from Canada, one of the members of this forum helped us out massively by sorting tickets. True the game wasn't great but the experience for my family was amazing,  my daughter absolutely loved it!! We'll be tuning in as a family for the Euros.

But a huge shout out here in the forum to another member and Rovers fan.

Amazing how England fans care so much about qualifiers and friendlies. While other big nations turn up for tournaments and are tournament teams our fans and media will have full meltdown if we don't play well in a friendly....WHO CARES. Just play well in the tournament it's all that matters
