The close season boredom on here is palpable, so forgive me for indulging by putting up seven mostly well-known songs with alternate Rovers connected lyrics. Some have been on here before, but I am putting them all in one place. I am attaching them as word files, so you don’t have to scroll through screeds to reach them all. If any can’t read the word docs please let me know. Please feel free to ignore any or all of them.

I am working very slowly on ideas for others – e.g. Gilbert and (Neil?) Sullivan’s ‘I am the very Model of a Model Football Manager’ (have you seen Tom Lehrer’s famous and brilliant parody putting all the chemical elements to that one), and Billy Joel’s ‘Piano Man’ (‘We Didn’t Start the Fire’ might be a bit too ambitious) and Leonard Cohen’s Marianne recreated as ‘So Long Copps my man’. In a failing attempt to avert total insanity in my dotage I have started writing some memoirs (definitely not for public consumption), and so mercifully these alternate lyrics might not see the light of day.

Other aspirations I think might work include ‘Desperado’ and ‘Don’t Stop me Now’. Others are welcome to try, I may never get around to these.

Have a great summer everyone
