Ghosts

Enough of the joviality of the election. Here's a new thread to get your teeth into.

!. Do you believe in ghosts ?
2. Have you ever had a ghostly experience?

My non-committal answers are

1. I think so
2. I think so

Many, many years ago I was working  to demolish an old warehouse close to the Thames. Me and 2 other lads were in one of the old warehouse offices, that were completely empty, taking out an old girder. The office was one of two that was separated by a door and frosted glass. Whilst we were in office 1, we heard the unmistakeable sound of people talking in the office 2 and the sound of a typewriter being used!!! We all looked at each other in bewilderment at first. We couldn't hear exactly what was being said, but it was just like when you hear chatter in a next door room along with the keys of a typewriter being used. One of the other lads tapped on the door of the inter-joining office and shouted 'hello' with no response but the chatter continuing. He then opened the office door the noise stopped and the office was completely empty of everything except dust! Very strange.

Another story, but one that didn't happen to me, was around the same time. We were having a tea break sat outside an old warehouse (don't think it was the same one) whilst a couple of scaffolders were putting up some scaffold inside a massive old warehouse. A few minutes later they came running round the corner to where we were sat in the sun and in a real mess. They claimed that whilst they were on the scaffold they saw a bloke stood in the opening to the warehouse just looking at them for a few moments. He then began to walk towards them and as he did, gradually dissapeared right in front of them! They refused to go back in there and had to call their gaffer to send a couple of other blokes down to finish the job. They took some real mickey taking about it but didn't care. They were proper hairy arsed workmen too who were either fantastic actors or really did see something really odd.

I don't believe in ghosts per se but as a 10year old in bed one morning it seemed my door opened and a skull poked it's head around the door. My Dad  at home had, had an accident at the pit from which he died of a few weeks later. Call it a premonition an apparation or just childlike fantasy!

My brother told me about a visit he had from our mother a few days after she died.
I won’t go into the finer details but the circumstances he described to me, and his wife also experienced them, left me in no doubt that it had happened.
Also, a few weeks after our dad had died myself and my wife were out walking in North Yorkshire when dad passed us going in the opposite direction!
We looked at each other in disbelief and are still convinced it was him.
They say that everyone has a double and it may of course have been a double of him but he also had the same walk and mannerisms.
Incredibly strange.

My lad came to see me one afternoon about 3 years ago it was late April,”Dad ,Iwas walking the Dog about 1pm down the Meadow at the side of the old Railway cutting near the Caravan site. I was minding my own business when a bloke walked from some Bushes near the Cutting ,he walked across the path in front of me and disappeared into an embankment.! “ my son said he didn’t get a good look but he had Brown Dreadlocks, a Beard and was wearing a shirt Cargo type shorts and hiking boots.
My lad checked the area thoroughly the bush he came out of hid a drop into the railway cutting, the Embankment was solid. He can’t account for the apparition, about 2002 when we had New Age travellers on Nursey lane in the old Quarry, we had one who appeared from Down South ,he had been at Nursery lane a few weeks and registered at the Pharmacy on Thorpe lane to get his Methadone he used to present at Dinner time take his Medicine
And go to the local shop for an armful of Tinnies and walk back to the camp via the footpath my lad had used, this particular day in April he was found dead in the cutting where my lad saw the apparition! There are some wild red Tulips at the spot and I recall they were in bloom, I asked my lad I’d there were any Tulips flowering and he confirmed there was!

About 5 years ago I was at a Barbeque and was chatting to a guy who was telling me he had paid to have an evening meal with the Beefeaters at The Tower of London, he the showed me a photo on his mobile of his wife with a Castle curtain wall behind her, also standing some 10 feet behind her was the apparition of a man in Knights clothing, he was 95% visible but his face was Pink with no features , I took note of his outfit, he was dressed as per the 1280’s to 1320, He had a white surcoat on over chain mail with a chain mail head covering, on his right shoulder was a small shield which had a blurred image either e Red rose or a Red lions head. I suggested he go to the press with it and he said he would be made out to be some kind I of idiot.
When I got home out came the books, I pinpointed the time period and discovered that the small shield was worn by nights so if they got captured in battle their captors knew there would be a Ransom if they were returned alive.so if you were a knight you generally had a very good chance of staying alive, if you weren’t you were dog meat!
The Red Rose and Red lions head were from families near Carlisle, Lancaster etc, it was the time if the Scottish wars involving ,Edward 1 , the Scots held Carlisle ,the commander was Robert the Bruce’s farther.
A lot of Northern families were entwined with the Bruce’s and I wonder if Edward had him down there as guest/hostage and had him bumped off!

Bloody hell mate, that’s something else. I’m sure that you’d know better than anyone if it was your Dad or not. I really hope that it was!

Me and the missus were thinking of selling our old house and around the same time she noticed some photos were face down on the shelves.
Then we viewed our current house and were undecided whether to go for it, bigger mortgage, big refurb etc. Then I saw the keys in the front door swinging a couple of times.
I told my missus and she said seen them swinging too.
We decided to put an  offer in on the new house and when it finally got accepted, the photos and the keys stopped moving.

Fast forward a few months and we're in our new home and things got a bit weird.

My daughter who was nearly two years old started waving and talking to something across the landing,  when asked who she was talking too she just said "the lady".
Then my middle son who was about 5 kept saying that he could hear someone walking on the landing and into his room.
One day he was playing in his room on the carpet and he screamed the house down and ran downstairs,  he said heard the foot on the carpet next to his head.

When my daughter turned three, she told us that someone keep waking her up in the night by "twizzling my hair".

And we've all seen a black figure walk past one of the windows of the dining room.
Can never make out what it is as its too quick.

Weirdest one for me, and I could have been dreaming but something woke me up by pulling me down the bed by my ankle, only felt like 5 or 6 inches but I felt the grip was a bloody strong one.
I bloody shot out of bed and nearly shat mesen.
Again, probably a bad dream but felt too real and bit violent.

Nothing weird has happened for about 3 years now though.

After my mother had died, the family were emptying her house and at this particular moment, we were all upstairs on the landing. Our grandson, who was 2 at the time, was standing at the top of the stairs looking down when suddenly he expressed a big beaming smile and shouted "Nanna!"
