So its good to know that we now have a government in charge that will leave no stone unturned and have the best interests of us all in mind.

So that's us all on furlough for the next three years then, god only knows what sort of economy we will have after it all!

I wonder if i'll be allowed to take the dog for a walk?

Just get your vaccine, you'll be saved.

And masks (only when you're stood up mind)

Covid was a test run.

Come on lads. Cough it all up.

If we had a repeat of the Spanish flu, you're looking at something like 1 in every 50 people on earth dying, the vast majority of them 20-50 years old.

If you wouldn't want to comply AL, that's your call.

Flakey analogy there. Spanish flu was rampant for very specific reasons. Google it.

H5N1 isn’t a new strain mind, been around for years, logically the question has to be what has changed?

People have changed. A lot are obsessed with hygiene,  to the point where the media mind control had People disinfecting their post. Immune systems are not as robust as they could be.

I'm old school,  I wash my hands after I've been to the toilet and I shower after work but I often eat a sandwich on the go while I'm working with mucky hands.

I work in all conditions,  cold, sunny, rain etc but I haven't been poorly for three years.
I don't really get sick, bug saying that, most self employed tradies I know don't get sick.

Why?

Not sure, more motivation to work? Better immune system than those who work indoors or at home? Less likely to be scared of the news?

Another thing that's changed is the speed and efficiency to create what is called a vaccine for so many health conditions. Plus obviously the huge amount of profit involved when widely taken up. This take up depends on the publicity around the harm of the condition - occasionally realistic, mostly exaggerated. And as Nudga says, the covid episode has made many people people more compliant.

Other fear factors do add to this compliancy. Things like the threat of war, fear of wider economic downturns and personal ones, and climate catastrophe.

Work for local government,  full pay for 1st 6 months of sickness , not had a day off sick for 6 years , plenty of staff the same. Most of us happy to put it down to decent work ethic and a good dose of luck.

My missus is a nurse, a lot of her colleagues couldn't wait to test positive and post it on Facey and have s few days off, multiple times.

Apparently it has mutated into a form that's much easier to pass from birds to mammals. Might yet fizzle out, but there are numerous examples of humans working in chicken farms getting infected, including some in Colorado.

Edit: Add the Orange man-child coming back to the White House and it seems like the odds on containing this long term ain't good.

Not considered particularly serious in the UK according to GovUK site:

The UK has self-declared freedom from highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) for Great Britain with effect from 29 March 2024.
The UK faced its largest ever outbreak of bird flu with over 360 cases confirmed across the country since late October 2021.
We have had no recent cases of avian influenza in kept birds with the last case confirmed on 14 February 2024.
The current risk to poultry from HPAI H5 in Great Britain is low. However, HPAI H5N1 continues to be found at low levels in wild birds in Great Britain and across Europe with outbreaks occurring in poultry and other captive birds in several countries in Europe

No work = no pay

Exactly,  we very rarely get ill.

Employed.

Is there a better incentive not to test for an imaginary illness and post the test result on Facey?

Can't wait for the "I've had my chicken cold vaccine" profile pics, almost like they joined an exclusive club.

Chicken cold.

Good one Nudga.

Except, over recent years, there's been 800 and odd positive cases of H5N1, almost all in working age folk. Over 400 of them died from it.

The real fatality rate won't be that high, because there will be a lot of people who have had it and not been tested and survived. But a very bad flu epidemic (and it will come eventually) will make COVID look like sniffles. One as bad as the Spanish Flu would kill maybe 1-200 million* people worldwide. So it's really important that this one is kept from spreading.

* course, they didn't have vaccines then. I wonder how many working age people would have refused them then if they'd been available, given that maybe 1 in 30 of all the 25-35 year olds in the world died of the Spanish Flu?

Maybe it's nature's way of saying there's too many people on the planet? All the problems in the world stem from overpopulation. The consumption of all our resources, food, energy use... Too many people, simple as that.

Quite possibly. And poor nutrition, war stress, shell shock.
