Hull Friendly on Tuesday
« on July 20, 2024, 12:22:52 pm by Ryaldinhio »
Having seen the teams today GM is obviously mixing it up to get maximum minutes into the lads. Also fair play to him for putting a strong team out at Spennymoor.

I'm hoping Tuesday will be first look at what we could expect first team to be. See if change of shape, see if Sharp and Joe both play, see what keeper starts.

Looking forward to it now.

I think as a general rule Ironside and Sharp won’t play together. Unless we’re desperate for a goal camped in the opposition half.

The beauty of these friendlies is assessing who's looking 'sharp' and pushing for a starting spot when there's competition for places. Also looking at the combinations that work well where an understanding is developing between players.

I wouldn't like to call the team or shape that lines up v Acceington.

There maybe some big clues in the next two friendlies v higher opposition. Let's also remember the finishers are just as important as the starters. If only Southgate saw it that way!!

The revelation is Hurst .He has come out  of the blocks like a rocket  and is linking well with Gibson ,it seems ,in the first two outings .

Not only that, Graing, but he’s changed roles slightly, moving inside and playing more of an attacking midfielder, rather than a winger.

FairPlay to Grant and the coaches for that little tweak. That position is now between Sbarra and him?

I think if you look back at GM first stint with us he kept using the same players in the warm-ups, this has to be better.

It will be interesting to see how McCann approaches these next two friendlies. I wonder if he'll  play two XIs , 45 mins each looking for higher intensity, or maybe 60 mins for the starting XI, with the reverse on Saturday.

You wonder how near he is to knowing his probable starting XI.

Either way, we could do with Anderson shaking off his dodgy back very soon. We wouldn't want Wood playing 90 mins in each of the remaining friendlies. I'm sure Olowu will play a big part anyway. I expect him to push having a strong finish to the end of last season in his cameo appearances.

To date all the good work in his career with us has been in a very defined area, on left outside box and then coming in to the box from the left. Interesting to see if he can adapt to being more central and staying central.

It's only a few weeks ago I got mocked on here for saying we needed another senior/top CB. Clear as day to me.

Apparently Hull are literally scratching around for a team for Tuesday. Lots of players from last season have left and they’ve a few injuries included TLT.

They got mullered at Fenerbace recently. Probably slightly undercooked at the mo but, I'm more bothered about us and our preparations.

If this is true, Rovers are 2.85/1 on Betfair Exchange to win tonight.
A massive £75 has been wagered on our match thus far lol.

Too right, its all about the development of the squad. With games against teams like this i'd imagine GM will be now looking at what relationships players are creating as they go into games, what's working and what's not. Some positional changes may occur or develop that will make the whole sum stronger than its constituent parts.

Interesting to see how we line up as to some clues to what GM has in mind.

Imagine betting on a friendly, where neither team really cares about the result, insane

You can bet on the Worksop Town v Pontefract Collieries friendly tonight. A truly impressive £3 has been wagered on that game.

Jones and Lawlor both on bench, not sure what is happening there. Anderson, Close and Westbrooke out again. Wood on bench, so assume Bailey is playing CB with Olowu?

Midfield three of Bailey and Broadbent, with Hurst behind Ironside.

Hope it is just precautionary but you couldn't really make it up could you?

His last three seasons have seen him play 44, 57 and 46 games. Signs for us...injured in his very first pre-season...

Rovers 1 up. Hurst robs Hull defender and finishes with a delicate chip over the Hull keeper.

Is that because you’ve been covering your eyes watching us at various points over the last 5 seasons?
