Thank god we got a long contract sorted - what a prospect we have.

The next Whiteman ?

Very different player to Whiteman but I’m a big fan nonetheless. He comes across so well off the pitch and definitely has the leadership qualities.

Feel like he’ll go from strength to strength this season with the license to get in the box. It brought the best out of him in the later part of last season too, where he can press the ball that bit higher up rather than holding. Matty Craig enabled him to do that last season and it remains to be seen if we have the right player in the squad to complement Bailey in the same way. Encouraging sounds on Broadbent’s performance last night but it was just a friendly so we’ll need to see more.

Couldn't have put it better. He's a very intelligent footballer, soaks it all in and uses his experience to learn at a very quick rate. He wore the armband last night and whether he keeps it going forward, he's a natural leader on the pitch.

He's an interviewers dream, nailing the strengths and weaknesses of himself and the team which shows his ability to read the game.

I actually thought last night, with Broadbent doing so well, the combo with Bailey could be just as effective as Whiteman and Sheaf who complimented each other so well. Too early to declare that but the potential is there.

What a player he will be, don’t forget the first half of last season he was covering right back or centre back, as long as he gets the right player along side him, I expect him to have another great season

Looks like we’ve found a player….

Who’s next to step into the limelight as a huge player to watch AND an asset to the club?

Hurst
Broadbent (or Broadband as iPhone call him)
Sbarra
Clifton
??
A heap load of players with something to prove and careers to develop, and they are chomping at the bit ….
What a change around….
Come on 10th August

Interesting interview with him - you can’t help but like the lad. To his own admission, he was perhaps a little reserved after he joined us and he took his time settling in. Definately started to bloom toward the end of the season and a shame we couldn’t seal a play-off final appearance.

Agree wholeheartedly about finding the right partner for him, as per last season, for example. I think he could become one hell of a player for us and thanks to everyone who got his contract extension done.

First name on the team sheet.

Don’t mean to sound soft but he’s such a lovely kid isn’t he. A proper good lad, love his interviews.

And a hell of a player who’s loving being part of our club.

Bailey is great but Whiteman was a different level quality wise.

You might not be saying that after seeing him play in League 1 next season.

I’d be very surprised if higher level clubs aren’t sniffing round Bailey and Hurst

I think Grant gave a bit of a clue in his interview after the Hull game that clubs are sniffing around some of our players. No doubt, if we have a good season like I fully expect us too, numerous of our players will create interest from clubs up the ladder. I would hope we could hang on to most  if we got promoted but would expect large scale interest at the end of this season. We don’t want to be letting these players go on the cheap so the higher we are up the leagues the more valuable they become. No doubt this season we have a squad with numerous players that fit this category. Good business extending contracts at this early stage.

Something no one has mentioned - for his size Owen is absolutely incredible in the air.

I think we've given him credit for that when he played as a back up centre half. Now of course making more use of that in the oppositions penalty area. The goal he scored v Wrexham was one where the odds were against him making it but his timing and positioning won the dual.

I'm also more buoyed by Hursts improvement in the air. Deceptively good in the air players are worth their weight at set pieces and open play. .
