Nobody Goneout on Loan?
« on July 24, 2024, 08:55:32 pm by Alan Southstand »
GM said in his interview yesterday, that one of the young lads was very close to going out on loan and it could have been as soon as today.

Anyone heard anything? I’ve not seen any news on this!

Maybe the club that the player is going to want to wait to release the news or if they are a non league club that don’t have a full time media department so only release news say every other day

Didn’t see that coming! I was expecting one of the young lad.

Makes perfect sens, though, as 3 senior keepers isn’t good for whoever is deemed the 3rd one.

Crikey. Yes, that is a surprise. This is good for Louis who needs games  rather than being sat on the bench. He also needs this to forge a career for himself and see how green the grass is away from DRFC. It took Nelson and Marosi long enough to get away and make a name for themselves elsewhere.

The downside is of course, we're left with Lawlor as No 2. As decent as he was the other night, his default position is still very much stuck to his line .(Yes, I know Louis does too)

Good luck Louis.

Hopefully time away for Louis from drfc may help him as he does seem set in his ways think he need to push on in these next 4 months to come back and establish himself as our no1 or no1 somewhere else

Wish Louis well and hope he comes back having played regularly, well and confident  :scarf:

On a side note, in the meantime, the 'club developed' player we need in the match day 18 will need to be someone else.

Will this be a chance for Flint or Brown, or does McGrath also qualify?

This was my first thought on hearing the news as well. I don’t think that either Jones or Lawlor are good enough but would have kept Jones to fulfil that mandate on the bench. Perhaps Lawlor was harder to shift, though, or Jones was desperate to get out and play in the 1st team somewhere and we didn’t want to hold him back.

Is Oram still at the club? I’d rather see him on the bench to take that spot and have 6 senior outfield subs than have Flint or Brown on the bench week in week out, given the squad depth we have and the potential number of game changers that we have.

Jones is a good shot stopper but I don’t think he commands the ball or gives the defence added confidence , if he wasn’t homegrown I don’t think most would be fussed

When I brought up this issue some weeks ago ncRover made the great observation that McGrath might qualify - did he play in Rovers age group teams because his Dad was with us?

Wiki suggests he did:

He could do Bobby Faulkner and Dundalk a favour tomorrow night as Waterford play Drogheda United...

I think Louis has had plenty of opportunity to make the number 1 spot his own and hasn’t grasped it, hopefully it will be the wake up call he needs

When he signed there were some photos shown on social media of him and Ravenhill in Rovers shirts from their early youth team days together.

Of the players to go out to decent loans the two who have gone out are the ones other clubs want.

Peterborough Sports in National League North. That’s a decent level for him to show progression.

Sounds unfortunate but needn’t define his loan spell. Anyone can make an error. One of the big things he needs to show is presence and character so let’s hope he bounces back which he can. We needed a new keeper to challenge for promotion though, and hopefully TSL is more TLT.

It was only decided to loan Louis this week when their No1 keeper got a hand injury ruling him out for 6/8 weeks. They have two other keepers but not as experienced. This is what the manager said also he was brought in for competition for the other two. So bad start for Louis handling not good nothing changes. We will see how many games he plays to show if he can improve
