New PA system…..
« on August 07, 2024, 04:36:19 pm by Arsenal Of The North »
So just reading the shadow board minutes and it stated the club have enquired about a new PA system, I think we’re all in agreement the current one is fairly unpleasant at the best of times,

The quote has come in in excess of £200k and TB has committed to one large investment per season with this season going on the training ground (rightly so) and id rather Terry’s money goes to the playing squad or directly be related to first team matters,

With this all being said, why don’t we as the fans start a fund raising campaign to see about helping fund the operation? A vast amount I know.

What’s people’s thoughts?

Also from Shadow board minutes unless I misunderstood.
In discussion for Eco-Power to host Askern music festival in 2025 after them failing to get a safety certificate for the current site.
Good news for anyone trying to get home after.

I wouldn’t know the first thing about setting up a funding campaign, hopefully someone with experience would be willing to get the ball rolling

£200k! Wow who quoted that, Bang and Olufsen? Surely the current system could be tweaked to make it audible for a fraction of that in the meantime?

It’s been tweaked beyond belief over the years. I think the fact is the system installed in 2007 was downgraded in the cost savings, therefore we ended up with a sub standard system.

It’s barely audible these days in most parts of the stadium and definitely needs replacing

I wonder if DB's austerity policy stopped us from getting a good sound system?

Maybe when we get it installed our entrance music can be the Johnny Nash song...

I can hear clearly now the pain has gone...

It’s particularly shocking when guests are speaking, eg when former players are receiving those heritage shirts.
Cannot hear a word in the south stand

I’m not so sure a full system is required, just significantly better speakers that can handle the power sent to them. At the moment they are cranking the sound too loud for the speakers and you can hear the distortion. There is little to no bass power in those fire alarm type speakers, and it is the bass energy that travels further. Higher pitch sounds dissipate very easily.
For example think of a nightclub, the doors will be shut but you will hear the kick drum and bass, and from a reasonable distance.

Very honourable that fans want to contribute to this but such things as stadium infrastructure projects, this is where sponsorships from local businesses and partners have a role to play. Let's not forget, it's a multi purpose stadium and to keep attracting events to the town and stadium, if it's necessary to upgrade the PA system , to keep the stadium up to date. It's a Club Doncaster thing and it shouldn't really fall on fans to contribute. The more events we attract, the more exposure our local business partners get in theory.

Just saying.

The last time someone was interviewed at half-time I thought it was Gerald Cooper from Clarkson's Farm.

Not so sure it’s just as simple as only upgrading the speaker system. Not sure what cabling is installed, but would have thought this would need to go as well to work with a modern system.

That probably explains the 200k quote

Bloody hell, they can have my old Aiwa in the garage for a tenner and it'll sound better than what we have now.
