Footy is back at the KM and you can't replace it
« on August 10, 2024, 02:38:31 pm by DRFC_AjA »
- Turnstiles ticking
- People complaining about the beer queue
- Hugs and handshakes between folk who haven't seen each other all summer
- Kids having a kick about in the concourse
- Seen someone in a Beezer Homes top, I salute you sir
- Plenty of people been shopping at the club shop
- Smell of the grass
- Someone's had too many and will be hard pushed to remember the 2nd half

Sky will try and take it away but you can't beat a bit of live footy at the ground

Don't let sky kill lower league football.  Get rid of your subscriptions.

Thing is the KO times are something you are stuck with regardless of whether you subscribe to Sky or not .

For instance Barnsley v Stockport County in September is a Saturday night fixture with a 8pm KO .

The game has totally gone now and it can't be saved in my opinion .

Well that’ll do for starters.
Hope we haven’t hit the top of the league too early.  ;)

I didn’t think we had to get out of 3rd gear to win today.
Some superb finishes. Molly could have had 4 goals himself.

Think we will take some stopping. So much to come and with a bench as strong as ours we can rest players and keep them fresh.

Don’t want to get carried away as it’s one game against a team that I think will struggle to stay in the league this season but that was a damn good start and the 1st time I can remember us scoring 4 on the opening day.

Molly will get 15 league goals this season no problem.
If he keeps shooting he will get goals. Simple.

I can remember us winning the first two games 4-0 in the mid sixties.
I think it was the season that John Nicholson was killed.

Turned round punching the air then applauding, you don't see that reaction normally

It was the 65/66 season when we won the first 2 games 4-0, and finished as Champions. We had a good start to the following season but John Nicholson's tragic death and the injury to Alick Jeffrey in the same car crash was something we never recovered from and ended up being relegated in one of our worst ever seasons.

John was killed in the 66/67 season, mate. We began that season with a 3-3 draw at Peterborough, when we all walked the length of the pitch at HT to get behind the goal at the other end.

The first home game was a win against Torquay 2-1.

Yes mate, I looked it up after I posted earlier but didn’t get round to putting another comment on.
I was at the Peterbro game.
Me and my little brother went on a supporters bus and thought it was our first away game without a grown up.
We found out a few years later that my dad’s mates from the pit had kept an eye

Two great 4-0s. I think that we beat Lincoln on the Saturday and then Hartlepool on the Tuesday.
Typical Rovers we went to Southport the following Saturday full of hope and lost 2-1. Our first ever sub was made in that game. Laurie Sheffield limped off and Keith Ripley came on. Subs were only allowed on to replace injured players in those days.
