Hound and Danum - everyone tells me that’s wrong, but the only way to work out if your tea is how you like it is by the colour.
It makes perfect sense to me to add the milk and then continue to mash until you have the shade you like.

I'm with Nudga, if you're having a brew, let it mash in't pot.

Although, risking being dragged in to the street and shot, I love a stewed tea. Last cup out the pot is the best one - really strong and slightly cooler. Add a good splash of blue top milk to that and Bob's your Uncle!

Milk ruins tea and full fat milk ruins it even more.
