Very impressive, that.

First half especially. On a par with back end of last season. Gillingham will be serious promotion contenders, but we made them look a division below us for 55 minutes.

Pressing in groups, creating chances, solid at the back. Feels like something emerging.

And that was as complete a centre back performance from McGrath as you're ever going to see at this level. What a prospect that kid is looking.

Agreed. Same every week boys and happy times ahead.

Tremendous energy. We look so much fitter than previous years.

Good result against a team not shy of dishing the rough stuff out

I thought we were terrible, we sunk to their tactics of lumping it high and long, the goal came from a little bit of football at least. I was pleased to see we have some back bone to stand up to these teams though.

Thank god I do not have to watch the Gills week in week out - what do you take from that style if you lose, it’s depressingly bad, I mean they play one touch hoof ball.
There was one point in the first half and they strung 5-6 passes together and I thought ooh hang on these might be decent - I think they must have had a rollicking at half time about that, they never strung two passes again, it just went hooof.

Up until 60th minute where I have no idea how we weren’t out of sight I was proud watching us. The players know their positions, they work hard for each other and we just look so well drilled. Not sure GM will touch too much on the last half hour because we did nothing but invite pressure for the majority of it. The back 4 were all contenders for MOTM in my opinion. Don’t like it but will end on a negative…. Kyle Hurst needs to be shipped out. Just a boy playing men’s football. A speedboat with no driver and makes the wrong decision every time he has the ball. If I’m Yeaboah I’m not a happy bunny. Anyway, massive 3pts against a very physical side.

Agreed about hurst, all the ability but looks like he has the heart of a pea - he is very young though, and the talent he has may just be enough to keep him, in the hope he finds the confidence to not run away from any tackle.

Kyle Hurst is the only player in this squad going backwards. Looks a bag of nerves every time he plays. It's a really odd sub to make especially with the other options on the bench when 1v0 up.

I thought we were very good first half but lost our way a bit in the second.
Didnt think we really looked like conceding though. Big 3 points that.

I didn’t think it’s an odd sub as I thought Gibson was really poor. Unbelievably though Hurst was even worse!

Didn’t enjoy the second half, thought we were poor.

First half good, not brilliant but good.

Also thought Gills weren’t very good, did TSL have a save to make? Cheating bas**rds too especially the lump at the back with pig tails.

Don’t get me wrong I love the fact we won and stood up to them, I just got frustrated we fell into lumping it for the 30 mins, it’s not our game, and only played into theirs - and had my nerves in tatters.
It’s ok to have a different view right? That style of hoof ball is not for me, I am unsure what I’d do if we started playing that. 3 points though and we move on.

I can’t ever recall seeing a male footballer with 2 pigtails. I’m sure that Ironside was using them as handlebars for the last 10 minutes.

First half was excellent. They are serious promotion contenders and I can't remember them having a touch in our box. We were on it all over the pitch. Not sure what folk who didn't rate that expect us to do.

There is nothing wrong with having different views, but your opening comment is polar opposite to what 99% saw with there own eyes. You either don't have a full understanding of the game yet or you can't manage your emotions and then feel the need to react with outlandish drivel. Sorry, if that sounds quite cutting, I'm not wanting to offend you but you need calling out for your opening comment.

I disagree, but there we go. I have the opinion that some only see the result not the game, and can’t see past it. Wonder what the thoughts on here would be if we drew or lost.
If you loved today’s game and would like to watch that week in week out, we have very different views on what we call great.

I feel my understanding of the game is good ta.

Excellent first half, could easily have been 3 up. Bsttled well second half and had the best chance through Bailey. Despite them trying to launch everthing forrard the excellent McGrath and Anderson dealt with it, leaving our keeper to have an easy game.

Did I see some fisticuffs on the pitch at FT.

Looked like McCann was having words with Nevitt as they were walking away.

The way I see it is that this was an early top of the table clash where it was going to be cagey and not pleasing on the eye.
The reason I'm chuffed to bits is that we didn't get bullied and for 60 minutes we were slightly the better side.
Last season would have been a 4 nil defeat so again, happy to see the obvious progression.

When this team finds its full playing form, some teams are going to be on the end of an absolute mauling.
No I wouldn't want to watch that every week,  but we aren't are we.
Swings and roundabouts.

Eeerrrr, if you asked the nation, ‘Would you like to watch 4th Division football?’
Most would say ‘no thanks’.
So, be realistic yeah, and yet again I’m sat here wondering how we haven’t scored at least 3 or 4
So no I don’t mind watching it.
Our keeper didn’t have a shot to save, only a couple of awkward crosses with a couple of lump CF’s on his toes.
Gibson went close
Sharp should have scored with a free header
Molly chipped a volley just over the bar
Molly hit the bar
Keepers made 2 point blank saves
A fair few other close moments too.
And a clean sheet
Verses the top of the league side

That’s Division 4 folks.
Oh yes,  and Doncaster Rovers are top of the league, bty.
So if you can’t take some enjoyment out of that,
Get yersen some drugs or go and support Man City.

We made them look poor. They are a good, extremely well organised side. Yes, we ran out of steam 2nd half but we're well worth the win. Make no mistake that's a title winning team's performance.

Exactly Nudga, a good balanced view of what we had. Thank god I’m not a Gills fan, who may have to watch that every week.

Grant has always had teams that can mix it up, I just feel we didn’t mix it up, we followed them and made hard work of what could have been easier.  Not sure either keeper had a save though to my mind.

Given the opponents I thought Rovers played very well first half and early second half.

Gillingham were organised, disciplined, hard but lacking in quality in attack. They look like a team that are not going to concede many goals or get beat very often.

Rovers stood up to their physicality, were the better team and created some good chances.

The only complaint could be not being clinical enough and therefore not killing Gillingham off.

Last 25-30 minutes Rovers went off the boil, not helped by a poor referee who I feel took personal umbrage at the fans getting on his back re the bailey tackle and lost his neutrality, but defended excellently.

Rovers keeper didn't have a shot to save against the team top of the league this morning.

Sorry, stopped respecting your opinion when you said Mathew Craig was better than pele.

This has cemented it, given how you've now gone a complete 360, from slating the performance as 'worryingly bad ' to full of gushing praise  in the space of a couple of weeks.

It's the nature of the game that you'll resort to some desperate measures when you're hanging on for a win against a good team who were top of the league. There was a few scrappy moments and misplaced passes but the work rate was very impressive. Could be a very important win come the end of the season.

Their keeper made two point blank 1-on-1 saves from Gibson and Bailey. He didn't save the goal from Sharp.

That's three saves he needed to make straight off the top of my head.

Not sure what you were watching but I thought they moved it quite nicely through midfield at times. The right side linked up well, in particular. Their problem is no cutting edge. At all. Teddy won't have many days easier than that.

There are many ways to win a game and we did what we had to do in the second half to ensure that we did win.
First half, we were far and away the better side but we expected Gillingham to up their game after the break and that is what happened.
We defended well enough to give TSL a fairly easy afternoon and I’m sure he didn’t actually have to save an attempt on goal.
Even at this stage of the season today was a massive win.
