Keeper situation
« on September 09, 2024, 10:52:35 pm by Ryaldinhio »
TSL seems to be No1 now as assumed.
Lawlor maybe not over the moon at No2?
Jones loaned out to Ireland, not happy?
Oram now loaned out aswell????

Guessing Jones/Oram have a recall facility to save us carrying a third keeper but all seems a little disjointed.

I still hold out hope of TLT coming back as soon as possible! Jan not unfeasible or next yr if (when) we go up.

Jones can’t play for us before January with it being an international move

Lawlor was previously back up goalie at a 2nd tier Scottish side, so I’m sure he’s fine with being our back up.

I think Hull will release TLT in the summer and he’ll come back here.

In the meantime Ted is doing well. We may not have seen solid evidence of shot-stopping so far, but as the dominant team in the division it’s important to have a goalie who can collect crosses and distribute really well. In fact I’d actually say Ted is better with his feet than TLT.

I think Jones is done in respect to us, had ample opportunity to make the position his own and failed to do so, Oram is young, plenty of time for him to come through but should look at Jones and think what do I need to do better.

It's up for grabs for once ain't it? TSL's been alright if unspectacular so far but Lawlor's looked decent so far this season too. If TLT becomes an option in the furniture though, yes please.

Thankfully, this isn't a position we have to worry about for now with TSL performing well and when called upon, Lawlor has done well too.

In the background however, I'm sure the recruitment team will be monitoring a selection of players for the future, one of which could be TLTs situation at Hull. They will know when and if there's a right time to make a move. As always, January might bring opportunities but they might also depend on out prospects at that time. In addition, we'll be reviewing our loans at the mid season stage so decisions will be made to either continue or terminate Of course, let's not forget, other clubs could be sniffing around some of our possible targets.

Let's see where we are then as priorities might change.

I’d like to think he is, he’s not up to what we need

I’m still not that confident in Lawlor, I wasn’t when he was here the last time, then I preferred Marko Maorsi. Ian Lawlor has spent 2 years before returning being 2 choice at Dundee who with all do respect are not in the 6 in Scottish football

Neither am I but, credit where credits due  he has been good so far this season. Yes, he's limited and fair to say he isn't the future and won't be no1 but for now, he's an adequate no 2. Likely he's fully aware of that too, as it's not the first time, so he's unlikely to get the lip on and throw his gloves out of the pram.

At this and league one level he is a great number 2, he has done little wrong, and does more than ok when he has to come in.

TLT has signed a contract extension at Hull until 2028. You’d think the fee would be very hefty and probably unrealistic now.

Well that's a surprise. He's not even getting onto the bench. They must see some value in him to extend from 2025 to 2028.

Tend to agree the sums aren't likely to add up now. It might not have taken that much with 6 months left but a further 3 years would likely require a hefty fee (certainly for us)

Hull have at least monetised him for future loans, probably for higher ranked teams even possibly abroad.

Or a decent sell-on.

Actually, the surprise for me is that he is not even getting on the bench,I too would'nt let him go yet and would have done exactly same as they Hull have, new 3 yr contract, think he's got a good future in the game coming, still only 21 but plays with maturity, similar prospect has Sam Johnstone was.
Regards our currently goalies,I feel TSL commands his area better,is better with catches and aerial duels, and is generally makes better choices than we have been used to recently, with the exception of TLT,this has made us less suseptible from dead ball situations, his shot stopping is still up for debate with me,it was suspect at first but improved as games have gone on,hard to make firm opinions when the the team infront are playing so well that he has had little to do at times.
I was never a big fan of Lawlor in his first spell with us,but we had no one better, was mega shocked when we resigned him,has someone else posted, good for 2nd choice/cover,think they good enough to cope for now,but when we come across teams giving us a tough test, like Everton did they will struggle.
