In all my years

I don't think I've seen a worse refereeing performance, and believe me I've seen a few. Clifton's first yellow debatable, the second surely just a calm down talking to. The game was 10 minutes old FFS and so killed as a contest. There were dozens of worse challenges during the game, all missed. I hate VAR but my God the standard of refereeing at our level is just laughable. Great battling performance by the lads who could easily have folded. Below par overall but will take a point and move on. Thought Grant was going to get a red too at one stage. Can we please just have some consistency, which is not consistently bad. RTID

He wasn’t great to say the least, but we’ve had worse. I really can’t though ever remember us having a player sent off in 9mins with two yellows. Maybe a straight red perhaps? This must be a record for two bookings though. History surely made today.

First yellow debatable? What planet are you on. Was 110% a booking. Got nowhere near the ball. As for the 2nd again can’t really argue with a yellow but you would like to think the ref could have just had a word considering it was only 10 minutes in.

I said that’s a booking before the ref branded it so I won’t argue that one. The 2nd one I thought it was a shocking decision. I haven’t seen it back yet but feel he couldn’t wait to send him off! No final warning, no nothing. It infuriating. I’ll not be biased either, I thought their red was really harsh too and certainly not a straight red. Looking forward to seeing them back but the game was definitely spoiled by a hot headed referee.

First yellow card was 100% a yellow card. The second one was neither here nor there but why on earth he gave the ref even the sense there was something to do decide, I do not know.

We had a player sent off at Rushden and Diamonds years ago very early on but can’t remember if it was red or two yellows

That was Mark Hume in the FA Cup tie. Straight red after three mins.

McCann agreed with first yellow. Said no complaints. Second one he thought was a joke.

Apart from the red cards, how the challenge on Mollyneux on the edge of the box near the end wasn't at least a foul beggars belief.

2 yellows all day long.
Clifton needs a word in his ear. You could tell after his first stupid challenge his head was bursting, zero surprise he luges in a second time. The angle the ref gets makes it look possibly worse than it was, but Christ why do that when on a yellow.
Well done to the rest of the lads who hung in at 1-0 when their lad was equally as stupid.
From then on it was all Rovers and unfortunate not to nick it at the end with an absolute bullet of a header from McGrath.
Subs all did really well too. Olowu totally threw them charging forward ala Ryan Giggs!

I wrote on another thread earlier that refs seem to be very reluctant to second yellow players.
There was a game last week in which the ref yellow carded 14 players but didn’t get round to dishing out a second one to anyone.
This ref today seemed to want to make it all about himself.

Fairly straight forward two yellows. Good decision for the red card as well.

3 Rovers players all very close by…..no complaints from any of them. Just Clifton waving his arms around, perhaps whoever pumped him up needs a word too

Never a yellow card that second one. Jesus, the ref couldn’t wait to get his cards out.

And I don’t understand why we didn’t get that 95th min corner, their keeper had hold of the ball for half of injury time!

Thought MK Dons were shite, and very lucky to have had 12 men today.

The 5 mins injury time was a serious joke. Embarrassing.
Both teams had 3 separate substitution stoppages. The trainer was on twice for a min each time.
MK Dons keeper took 30 seconds at least to take multiple goal kicks and was deliberately wasting time.

After the 2022 World Cup where injury times were often 10 to 15 mins this was continued into the domestic game in England but it only lasted about 2 months at the most. WHY?

Today there should have been at least 10 mins. Most games there should be 8 mins plus.
I just don’t understand why this isn’t being implemented.

I'm on the same planet as you of course. Harsh tackle but that early in the game surely just a warning. Once he's decided to start flashing the cards early he's set out his stall, "I'm in charge", but my point is that after that there were far worse things that went unpunished. In my day, (oh no I hear you say), if a player stayed down you knew he was hurt. Watching today's players rolling around, slapping the turf and screaming for an opponent to be booked is pathetic. Clifton was probably a bit clumsy with the first tackle but to reduce the team to 10 men after 10 minutes was pathetic. We're not talking Vinnie Jones here.

There’s as many saying two clear yellows as there are saying second challenge never a yellow in a million years. Were you all at the same game? Next question is - why were there no further sets of 2 yellow’s? MKD seemed to be doing just as much fouling, according to the stats (Moly incident mentioned already).
Imho, the answer is straightforward - the refs are consistent, consistently sh1t at this level. And they want respect? Do me a favour!

Not having the second one, really soft for me. Foul but not a card.

Referee spoiled the game, The first one was very late and clumsy and deserved the yellow but the second one was very poor, if that deserved a yellow then they should of ended the match with 7 men each.

I thought the straight red for Harrison was also over the top, same again if that was a straight red then we should of had a handful in the game. Mols was taken out at least four times to poor tackles with no sight of a card.

The refs at this level are really a problem, its either too lenient or too severe, they struggle to get anywhere near a consistent performance. Today's joker was very poor, ruined the match.

Was it a tackle worth ‘chancing’ in that section of the pitch minutes after you’ve received a yellow?

Clifton let his teammates & travelling supporters down today with a couple of Sunday League ‘tackles’.

I'd have him in the next match available playing in exactly the same manner(bar the bookings)

He demonstrates the type of tempo and aggression that we want our side to show every week,.

He'll be near the top of player of the season by the end of the year.

Happy to accept the first one was worth a yellow. I couldn't see it well from where I was.

But after the second challenge, the ref has to be asking himself "Is the sum total of those two challenges really worth making this a 11v10 game?"

Awful, awful decision. And even worse was his decision to send Harrison off. There'd be a red card every other game if you always sent off players for challenges like that.

I’d never choose tempo over skill, ability, vision, technique, pace or desire.

And as a consequence, Clifton is proving that, out of our eight midfielders, he’s eighth best at the moment. Loose passing, crap first touch. Often chasing play. But shows ‘tempo’… or a lack of composure and rushed decision making as I see it.  Player of the season?! He needs to do a lot in the remaining games.
