Profumo Affair
« on October 18, 2024, 06:56:05 pm by Draytonian III »
On the BBC breakfast news programme this morning they were interviewing a radio producer  Nick Lowe, and Mandy Rice Davies’s daughter Dama about a radio programme that’s been made from old tapes that have surfaced. Didn’t Mandy Rice Davies or Christine Keeler have some connection with Doncaster years ago or did I just dream it

Mandy Rice Davies, now there is a memory in the sixties in Tel Aviv in her club Mandy's, she was a very clever nice lady, and an absolute stunner.

Do you think you might be mixing the Profumo thing with the John Poulson scandal of the 1970's - to which I recall there was a Doncaster connection?

No, I’m almost certain that either Christine Keeler or Mandy Rice Davies had a connection to Doncaster, family or friends lived in city or one them had lived there at some time.
John Poulson was a crooked developer who built the Aveimore ski resort in Scotland, I went there in Feb 1975, in fact I had to go a week later than planned as it was closed for a week for an enquiry into the building of it. Extra week of school but I was due to go at half term

The Doncaster connection with Poulson is that he designed both Coal House and DRI.

One of his sidekicks built and lived in that white painted place (well, it was) at the junction of Warning Tongue Lane and that road that goes past Catherine McAuley. It's on the corner where the continuation of Warning Tongue Lane goes into Old Cantley. He got popped in quod too.

That was my recollection Bob - the property close to the roundabout at the junction of Warning Tongue Lane and Cantley Lane.

Maybe confused with this?

Polson built the Police Hq and Courts on College rd, Coal house heated it all plus the Bally Bridge Flats!
