Remember going to oakwell in this competition year's ago.
Think we won 5-2 with richard offiong scoring a hatrick.
Missed most of the match due to seriously dense fog.

I'll not be bothering this time, ever since they ruined the competition it's been a waste of time.
Hopefully we get knocked out ASAP.

I’m off to this. I always enjoy a visit to Oakwell. Even when virtually empty.

I'm off, I miss our rivalry with Barnsley - it always felt lively but respectful - like two brothers that don't get along but ultimately understand each other and where they came from.

Plus for a time we seemed to be there bogey team - I remember a 2-0 at there place with a couple of reds for them (one for sending Copps in to row z over the hoardings) and a Dave Mulligan top corner volley at our end, plus a few good wins at BV, including a 4-0 if I remember rightly!

It's not the most respected tournament but it's a good chance of a trip to Wembley which doesn't come around too often, so hoping we go for it and get a good result there.

Both reds were for fouls on Copps that day.  2005/6 season.?

We have odds of 40-1 to win the trophy. Well worth a punt.

Wasn't the foggy game the 3-1 win? I was there for the 5-2 one aswell mind but im almost certain it was the league game that was foggy.

On that note i cant recall any game since then where fog has caused issues at a ground??

Yes it was. We scored at the opposite end to us. It was so misty we didn’t realise we’d scored until the players ran back celebrating. Great night that.

Twenty years ago this month.

John Doolan put a hefty challenge in on Stephan McPhail after about ten minutes which took the influential midfielder out of the game, a challenge which went unpunished much to the disgust of the home supporters.

One player from each side eventually received their marching orders, Ricky Ravenhill for Rovers.

Pleased with that team. McGrath & Olowu deserve a breather, every player on that team sheet could do with the minutes and it’s still strong. Good bench as well with several game changers should we need them.

I remember the game, the Doolan challenge, the fog & the win, great night.
I wouldn't have known it was in this comp though tbh.

I remember the 30 yard screamer and w-anchor sign to Paul Hart in the return leg :D

The fog was definitely a league game, I was there. The return fixture we pumped them 4-0, they booed Doolan all game after his challenge on McPhail at oakwell and he responded by putting a 25 yarder into the top corner, which might even have been his first goal for us. He didn't score many either way which made it a special one.

Apparently, Barnsley's manager Paul Hart refused to use the dressing room because he said it wasn't good enough for the Barnsley players. He made them change on the coach as a mark of disrespect to Rovers.

Hart got right het up over Doolan and was a right cock on the side line the rest of the half.
As the players came off at half time i think it was Greg Blundell smacked him in the face and carried on down the tunnel that made Hart worse complaining to the officials who saw nothing, hilarious.
The Doolan tackle was retribution  for two bad tackles on our left back Tim Ryan in the first ten minutes trying to get him sent off for retaliation and wound our team up.
Wrong side at the time to do it to.
