It's called adrenaline, Hound. A rare component in footballers nowadays and obviously much maligned by some, as shown in this thread.

Billy’s always been one to really celebrate his goals, no matter who he’s playing against. Remember him going ape after he’d scored forus against Scunny early on in his career for us.The Scunny fans didn’t like it at all.Too bloke.

I don’t agree. They booed his every touch and pelters all match.I’m glad he got the opportunity to give back what he received The man has played in the premier league. Giving it large for scoring against a part time team is pathetic.Well if anyone is familiar with the definition of ‘pathetic’ it would be you.

We could do with a bit more of that passion and aggression in the team, other than Olowu and young Jay we have a soft underbelly, I’d love to see a few more Misters added to the team in January !

Yes, he does. He celebrated a goal he scored for Southampton against Rovers back in the early 2010's. I'm still proud to have him as a Rovers player. In fact 'proud' is an understatement.
If you're a professional footballer you're doing what every schoolboy dreams of, you're paid very handsomely for what you do, and your job as a forward is to score. If after that you've got such a small man complex you then have to give it the big one infront of opposition fans then it say more about that person. Oh diddums they called you some names. Boohoo As the great Mario Balotelli once said "I don't celebrate because it's my job, a postman doesn't celebrate when he delivers a letter" or words to that effect, legend haha
I think it’s fantastic that a player like Billy still feels the passion to celebrate scoring a goal. He doesn’t need to play for us. He doesn’t need to prove himself to anyone. He just wants to keep playing football. In that moment, when he scored the winner against a non league club, for a league two club in the second round of the FA Cup, it probably meant as much to him as any goal he scored for Sheff Utd in the Premier League. He’s a 38 year old man with the same passion and love for the game as a 13 year old kid Dreaming of scoring in a cup final at Wembley. The game needs more Billy Sharps.
C’mon, Billy Sharp is the biggest ‘villain’ Kettering will see in any pantomime this year!He knows how to give ‘his audience’ value for money!
