Anyone been down there on the train before? Looks a bit of a mission using the rail network, any advice?

Don’t forget it’s on a Sunday so there’s less trains

Very true. They are bad enough on “normal” days!

A few years ago, I went on the train via Peterborough and Ipswich instead of going down to London which was a pleasant journey. There was a bus service near the station to the ground.

I don’t think Greater Anglia have been hitting the local headlines recently like they did some time back when (I think) they were introducing new stock, so the fast trains from Liverpool Street might well be relatively dependable. Going cross-country via Peterborough and Ipswich sounds interesting and may well be quicker.

When I went there first I parked right next to the station and I also used the football ground special bus service up to the ground too. It’s not far.

If you go by car and have come via the A14 and A12 the best option is the Park and Ride car park just the other side of the A12 which (last time I was there) was exclusively Pay-by-App, so useful to install the App in advance. You can walk from there over the A12 to the ground.

Pretty easy. Doncaster to Kings Cross. Then three stops on tube from Kings Cross to Liverpool Street. Then direct train from Liverpool Street to Colchester. If you can be arsed, it is around half hour walk from station to ground. A few pubs on the way.

There are no trains out of Liverpool Street on the day of the game. You will need to get to Stratford for the train to Colchester. Do this by Circle line to Farringdon, then Elizabeth Line to Stratford.

There were no Football Ground buses last season, so you will probably need to get a normal bus, which only goes to just less than a mile away from the ground. Walking is possible, but is way more than half an hour - nearer an hour.

Took us just over half an hour last time. Google plots the walk as 40 minutes.

Don’t forget it’s on the Sunday between Christmas and New Year, staffing might be an issue, overtime etc
