Top marks to him again. Seems a very good manager and a decent bloke.

I knew he was from Donny but I didn’t realise until now that he played for us too.

I've said it several times over the years, that I think Rovers should have gone after Weaver rather than go down  the Butler, McSheffrey, Schofield route. The Weavers are from Donny but they are Sheffield Wednesday fans, and was told by someone a few years ago that they are the only club that Simon would leave Town for.
Irving Weaver is big pals with Terry Bramall, I belive they may have been at the same school (albeit TB is a few years older), and TB was playing in the orchestra that played at Irvings wedding! They often refer to Rovers and our set up, as something for Town to aspire to.

Both in construction game, both from Donny, both own football clubs, and both live in Harrogate (think Weaver might be Wetherby actually). Be amazing if they didn’t know each other.

TB waxed lyrical about the rivalry between them at the last meet the owners event.

The “route” you refer to was ill-chosen and referable to Blunt’s “leadership” and the polar opposite of anything any well-run football club would ever choose. It doesn’t take much intelligence or business nous to appoint someone who has actually had some success in management to be a manager. Failing in this 3 times in succession borders on insanity. It seems very unlikely that TB could have been directly involved in such a series of bad decisions.

It seems ironic that Harrogate might have looked to Rovers as a model; presumably not after that though.

Agreed on the Blunt appointments, looking back they were such bleak years. Ironically since Weaver was appointed as Town boss in 2009, we've had something like 14 managerial changes, not something to be admired. When I refered to the Rovers set up, it was more our overall history as a Football League club, our fan base, the
stadium, the facilities, the training ground etc...
