I have decided not to modify the op as it could be bad luck, and also confirms to many who know me well they are right when they say  how stupid I can be, got a good feeling about the result now, its an omen.

Brian, if Syd came on the football forum he would be all over the highlighted bit of of your post mate.

It would be nice to keep your childish remarks in the other section, where you can play in the playground to your hearts content instead of coming in here to play

My comment wasn’t a political one though Filo so doesn’t belong in “the other section”.
You don’t seem to mind when other posters have a dig at someone,  and there are lots of abusive ones by the way, so why come out of your box when I mention Syd.
He won’t be upset anyway because he won’t see it.

Whqt the moderators really said:

''To be fair the moderators have tried to stay out of the loop when it comes to certain posters trading insults on here. But, because of the numerous moderator reports that we keep having to deal with we can't ignore it any more, especially seeing as the insults are now making their way onto the main board.

We will delete all posts that we feel are stoking the ill feeling and request that you all refrain from posting such inflammatory posts. You all know who we mean, and especially those that are constantly stoking the fires.

It needs to stop!''

Looking at the Gillingham squad names they should be doing a lot better than they are, and who wouldn't put it past the old Accrington manager Coleman  to get a tune out of them at the wrong time for us.
If players like Bradley Dack and anything like fit we could be in for a hard time if we are not on top of our own game, and with new players on board we need them to integrate from the off.
Looking at their supporters comments it seems they also think that their play from back to front is slow, and hopefully our new lads bring a bit of pace into our game that can take advantage of their play if the supporters are right.
Whatever we have never exactly found it easy against them in the past, the odd time we have come away with the points, but normally it has been a long journey home after a torrid time
We need a win, at our best we are capable of getting a win, and we are at the time of the year when a couple of teams normally find form consistently and draw away from the rest in the division, the part of the season when promotion is won, and we need to be one of those sides and emulate this part of last season if possible, it will be a hard act to follow.

Didn't think Murdoch was still part of Sky?

Be fair, he’s only not been a part since 2018!

Has the culture changed much since then though? I suppose you could say that it has infused the entire industry without having much impact on the subscriptions. Has not competition amongst the providers and the bargaining power of the sporting organisations driven costs and subscriptions up? When it was only Murdoch, he could name the price.

Dare I say Sky are now probably paying alot more money to TLOD than ever before, and provide a worldwide option for anyone to watch. I’ve never had so many acquaintances come up to me and say ‘I watched Rovers yesterday’ (usually followed by ‘What happened?’)
If we accept their money to bring in new signings that everyone demands, then I can’t understand the moaning we get every time someone announces Rovers are on Sky.

Because for people who attend in person it is usually highly inconvenient.

I imagine that these exclusive TV broadcasts will be slowly eroded by the rapid growth of the firestick revolution and that is probably not a bad thing if it brings an end to the ridiculous money that is spent in the top echelons of the game with only token sharing of the spoils with grassroots football.

But not everyone, even local to Doncaster, is able to attend matches, home or away. If you've got the resources and health to be there you are fortunate.
Even if you are just lazy or too busy, is it not beneficial for the club to have as many supporters or just followers as possible? The latter categories probably make up the main percentage of TV sports subscribers and have a genuine interest, often in a range of sports and admittedly we are the Providers' captive audience.

A good win , both teams could have had a few goals , but Mols took his chance though Billy will be furious with himself for his missed opportunity. Onwards and upwards now !!

First ever league double over Gillingham. They always seemed a very hard team to beat, home or away.

Like Hull another hard game defending, unlike at Hull we kept a hard fought clean sheet at last and looked controlled doing it solid down the centre and stopped a lot of ball coming into the box out wide topped off with a great finish by Molly.
Not a pitch or day for great football but well done a real team effort again at a place not easy to go to and bring back the points.

Apart from the ref giving us 2 yellow cards 1 to Olowu for being near someone and the 2nd to McCann for complaining about it.

Good to see Maxwell back to his best.

I hope that really wasn't his best, defending is his primary role and he leaves something to be desired in that department.  Had a nice mazy run late on but earlier tried a run to the byline and was made to look poor by a L2 defender.

A great improvement in the midfield. We always looked to get the ball forward. It was interesting to see Ironside playing wide, an interesting variation. Crew and Street may not have been outstanding, but they both had a positive attitude. We were altogether more dynamic with no standing around waiting for the ball.

I think he adds a lot to the team, it was him who made L2 defenders look poor with that run late on and we did not concede a goal today. Job done.

Great win with a dogged defensive performance. Don’t think we looked particularly troubled in the 2nd half. Played OK in fits and starts going forward but plenty of room for improvement still.

We have a terrible record at Gillingham.

Just done a quick tot up this.
W2. D11.  L26.
So not too bad
I was actually there for one of the wins, back in 2018 when we won 3-1.
It was the only game in which Marquis was subbed while playing for Rovers by the way.
All runs come to an end.
Until today Stats could look bit worse if you factor in the Brighton games played there

A great result on a ground that's normally a graveyard for us. Had to withstand the Alamo for the first half hour but a brilliant breakaway goal took the wind out of their sails. Can't believe that Billy missed a chance to give us some breathing space but great defensive display second half to bring home the points. RTID.
Can't decide who's the worst commentator, Mickey Walker or Peter Catt. Possibly the boy Walker!
