He did fine today. Not a bad debut by any means.

Such a shame about Close and Westbrook. Despite their limitations, these two are the only midfielders we have that can look after the ball. Our midfield options currently being used are really poor in my opinion ( apart from Bailey). Hopefully Charlie can be the man we need as it’s obvious these two are not fancied.
Eh, not fancied? They are seen as central to this season and next,  that's why they were given contracts, no?
Those two after T Bramhall said "we have to manage the budget better and do better than the budget suggests", perhaps do a Walsall?
Why does McCann never say in interviews that there are players smashing it in training who are demanding a place in the match day squad?

Why are u so obsessed with westbrooke and close

Charlie Crew has a touch of genius about him. A future Lee Tomlin or better.

Is it me or what? The above T.Bramall quote together with "if you're not prepared to fight to win the league don't come back after summer "
Somethings not right,  two players given contracts whilst injured ( stupidly reminiscent of the John Taylor episode),  that I can't remember anyone understanding at the time. They have contributed less together than Yeboah alone, who was dispatched as soon as possible.
I am baffled by silence from the manager AND the players themselves as to their absence,  no determination to demand even a place in the squad from either player,  no message from the manager describing their progress to this aim, though Grant did say in early November that Westbrooke was ready to return. Instead we have a loan signing go straight in, would you say that's done in preparation for next season ? You are aware they both were contracted to summer 2026?

Yes, exactly the point if it went over your head,  do you need me to link the almost
the  exact same update from the beginning of November, the one that although fit he was given the upcoming game off because his wife giving birth?

Your point was there 'was silence from the manager' and 'no message from the manager' He gave an update four days ago. Whether you like the update or not, he gave one.

Going into anymore detail is more information than we're entitled to. That should remain between manager and player.

You’ve made around 25 posts now about them, we get it you don’t think they should’ve been offfered new contracts. Don’t need to tell us every day

They shouldn’t have been given contracts.

Thought he grew into the game Saturday and we all saw what he can bring to the team in the 2nd half before he came off. His close control under pressure and then getting us going forward very impressive.

Good debut on the whole after being chucked in the deep end a bit, like others have said, won’t be many tougher places he will go to this season so now knows what he can expect.

Agree with this. You can learn how to handle League two physicality, a few times he was looking at the ref for a free kick which he would definitely have got at academy level. Good touch and vision to get a pass away in a tight spot. Happy to take the ball under pressure which we definitely require in midfield.

I agree too. You ought not to judge a young player directly with established pros like Close and Westbrook. You surely look out for things about his game and his attitude which experience suggests are reliable indicators of the way he can develop. And at this stage development can be fast so that they may quickly be more effectual and more suited to the style McCann wants than Close and Westbrook. Whereas in Ennis’s case, there wasn’t enough evidence at Gillingham to know one way or the other, Crew made an encouraging impression with me in the same way as Kelly. Both Crew and Kelly seem to require a bit more bulk to enable them to stay on the ball better, but they are at the stage when their strength and poise can develop quite quickly.

Thought Crew had a very decent start which allowed Bailey to play further forward
