If we play with that energy and commitment for the rest of the season it will end a very happy one.

Also can we please start a petition to put to Radio Sheffield to stop selecting Mickey Walker for Rovers commentary. Completely ruined the drive home listening to him talk absolute waffle!

Agreed on Mickey Walker, must be someone else waiting in the wings to take over. It's all nonsense, as much as I love the guy.

Well done to ref. I thought he was fair and consistent . No cards for either side .

Well if you saw the still of the first Palace goalscorers boot up and studs on a shin with the lino looking right at it their bloke should have been off

First half Rovers were excellent. In terms of tactics, organization and work rate.

Completely nullified Palace's attacking threat and didn't look like conceding in open play. Had a few half chances going forward too.

So frustrating and undeserved to be 0-1 down at half time to a goal from a set piece.

Couldn't understand therefore the change in formation at HT. Suddenly we looked wide open and Palace should have scored twice in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half.

Despite Rovers having an attacking spell the 2nd goal was inevitable and Palace were comfortable and unadventurous after that. A few more half chances for Rovers. Shame one of them wasn't taken.

Scoreline was a fair reflection on the game. Rovers gave a really good account of themselves against a pretty much full strength top flight team.

Well done. Now let's smash Grimsby on Saturday.
Didn't have enough to win the tie but 0 -1 or 1- 2 would have ben a fairer result.

Anyone seen a decent replay of the second goal? Thought it looked offside at the time.

All put a great shift in tonight but Anderson and olowu were great at the back for most parts and moly always looked a threat

Thought atmosphere was pretty poor though

Consider that was a great performance by everyone, the only problem was that we couldn’t finish one of the many chances that the lads created.
Every single player gave their all and if we continue playing like that for the rest of the season we will end up champions.
Difficult to single out any player, but really pleased to see that Maxwell appeared to be at his best.
Joe O was just excellent, this could be really difficult because any championship clubs    viewing that performance against very good premier striker, will surely consider taking a punt on Joe.
Well done guys, play at home like that for remaining games and it must surely put bums on seats.

Every time I watch it back, I struggle to understand why Broadbent doesn’t head it!

I thought the ref and linesman on the west were terrible.

We are so much better when Ironside is up top.
He has to start on Saturday.
Good performance from our boys tonight, they can hold their heads high.
The first goal came from a free kick which shouldn’t have been awarded.

Hughes best player on the park - very closely followed by Molly tonight who made things happen out of thin air, could have had 2 - proved me and others wrong and so pleased for him tonight above all the other heroes in Red.

Felt really flat tonight, zero atmosphere from the black bank. Very strange.

Team did well, shout out to anderson who stepped up and did a decent job.

Decent performance. We gave Hughes far too much room and made him look world class. I thought our passing was off too at key times. Joe should have started. He made the difference when he came on. Molyneux played well but faded towards the end. Overall, reasonable. We continue to wait for a giant killing at the Eco.

Good performance everyone can hold their heads up high after that. Just wouldn’t fall for us. Only player I thought struggled with the game was Ennis. He never got ahold of the ball and it was turned over everyone he had it. Thought Gibson, Broadbent and Senior played well to say how little they’ve played recently.

We really do have a top squad for L2 so now let’s get the job done.

It was difficult for him, he was running backwards and had his body a little twisted, not going to slate him for that, he had a solid game in my opinion

He missed that awful challenge on Ennis by Munoz. Watching it back, it’s a red. Over the ball and studs into his ankle. Nasty and could have been a serious injury. Then Munoz scores.

I thought the ref protected Palace. Gave some ridiculously soft free kicks, including the one for their first goal. There was one from a corner where he gave a foul on the keeper and our player was nowhere near him. There was another near the end where Esse went down clutching his face and the replay showed our lad had an arm across his shoulder.

Annoying. He was from Surrey too - hardly neutral in terms of location!

I do wish we’d been a bit more physical. Gave them far too much respect. Hit the buggers!!

Hughes was unreal.
Anderson rarely lets us down despite the stick he gets.
Maxwell looked in a bad way at FT.
Fans a joke leaving on 80min.
Molyneux brilliant.
Enjoyable game, we deserved a goal there.

Couldn’t understand all the tourists leaving when they did

Olowu was the best player on the pitch.

For us yes, Hughes was the best on the pitch

Put Hughes in our side tonight and I think we'd have won that. He was absolutely superb.

Proud of that performance though. And if the Man from Mars had turned up and been told there was an England first choice centre half on the pitch, he'd have assumed it was Olowu. Brilliant performance, but I think that's blown any last chance of him still being here next season.

Chilwell knew he'd been in a game tonight. He hugged Molyneux at full time. Only time he got close to him all night.

It wasn't just the tourists. Pretty much all STs where I sit and all the same ones were up and off between 80-85 mins.

Winds me up every game.

Yea like how everyone just assumes it was "tourists/plastics" leaving.

It was no different to a league game when we are losing. Will be the same people that do it week in week out.

The lads certainly didn’t let themselves or the fans down tonight. A great effort, just wish we could have got a goal to get the atmosphere going.

On to Grimsby, let’s keep the levels high and get back to winning ways.

Quite happy with that overall, just a pity we couldn't score from one of those chances.

Now we've had our 'jolly' we need to take that concentration and intensity into the league. Olowu summed it up I'm his post match interview, saying we have 16 Cup finals left to play.

If we needed any reminder of the financial gulf between the two clubs, two team coaches wasn't good enough for Palace, with a dozen limos lined up outside to take their players home to London. Unbelievable Jeff!

It was very quiet most of the game in the south stand.
Very odd when considering how packed it was.

This was a totally unexpected contrast with the performance at Chesterfield. Palace had to battle hard for their win with goals from shots, one that bounced fortuitously and the other where the touch could quite easily have gone over the bar.

We allowed them possession, but we restricted their options and we moved with speed when opportunities were presented. Their reactions were quicker and their ball control sharper, but we matched their energy and from time to time were dangerously close to converting our scoring opportunities.

The young loanees who you might have expected to shine tended to be overeager and clumsy whereas practically all the others strived to maintain focus, contain the threat and work hard in counter attack. I was amazed how good Molyneux looked against their defenders, and Maxwell showed the sort of class we saw last season, but the whole team seemed inspired to give of their best. I agree that Ironside would have probably been a better fit up front from the start.

Speed of reaction was perhaps the main difference, both in physical control and thinking, but it augurs well for the task ahead.

Restricting a PL team that are unbeaten away in their last eight to 2 goals, both of which were hard-earned, is a great achievement.

I thought that Olowu and Anderson had good games.  Also though Bailey was excellent and Molly was a threat.  Billy huffed and puffed, but didn't get much change.  On another day we might have got a run of the ball and could have scored - which would have put them under a bit of pressure, but they ended up comfortably winning.  Great effort all round though...

The big difference was Hughes ability to link the play, pass through the lines, and bring momentum into the final third.

Rovers put in a big effort, but lacked the quality in midfield to deliver decent service to the front.
Olowu was outstanding, and Senior did well off the bench.

Not sure that this was a game for Ennis, who looked lost first half.
Some poor delivery from dead balls from Rovers, without enough variation.

All in all, a good solid session, but I never thought that a win was likely!
