Well done
« on February 10, 2025, 09:47:50 pm by scawsby steve »
The lads gave it all tonight, and were just short of a bit of quality against one of the form teams of the Premier League.

Absolute contrast to when we played Palace last time, and went out with a whimper.

Great effort.

I thought he fell for the foul prior to their first goal.

Apart from the Ennis shocking foul, by their eventual first goal scorer ( you could make a case for high studs,  no control and very late - ie red card)  it was (although not given a yellow all day)

I do think he referred the game well.

Olowu was the best player on the pitch.

On another day Billy might well have had a yellow later, but the Ref couldn't really give it after not giving a yellow to the Palace player

For us yes, Hughes was the best on the pitch

Excellent performance, Palace had to earn that, we battled for every ball, and never stopped, disappointing to see the part timers mass exodus on 85 mins after a performance like that

Hughes was unreal.
Anderson rarely lets us down despite the stick he gets.
Maxwell looked in a bad way at FT.
Fans a joke leaving on 80min.
Molyneux brilliant.
Enjoyable game, we deserved a goal there.

Agree Filo, Hughes is a class player, a proper midfielder.

Another positive, again thought the subs added something towards the end especially Ironside and Senior

Definitely, Olowu had a brilliant game but Hughes was in a class on his own, what a footballer!

Thought we played quite well, only grumble we didn't quite make the most of the half chances we had.  The first goal quite unlucky and the second at the wrong time when we were making a game of it.

But, a decent performance, now to focus on getting out of the shite league we find ourselves in.

A big thumbs up to Jamie Sterry, he’s gonna have 1 hell oof a headache in the morning with that egg above his eye, didn’t shirk a header when needed.

Olowu showed he has the class to contain Premier League strikers all match long. We will be lucky to retain him.

Gutted at switching off for the first goal, real sloppy one. Apart from that we did a lot well. Deserve plenty of credit for that performance.

Be interesting to see how many home fans we have on Saturday! Should be at least 8000 home fans after that performance but I doubt it will be.

His face was a picture, he could be in for a Sterry Sterry night  :chair:

Sterry for me was a star. The link up play and that lovely through ball brilliant.
But how did he get the egg?

Not sure it was a case of switching off, just unlucky that when it bounced back of the post it hit Billy and deflected the ball straight to their player 3 yards out!

First half Rovers were excellent. In terms of tactics, organization and work rate.

Completely nullified Palace's attacking threat and didn't look like conceding in open play. Had a few half chances going forward too.

So frustrating and undeserved to be 0-1 down at half time to a goal from a set piece.

Couldn't understand therefore the change in formation at HT. Suddenly we looked wide open and Palace should have scored twice in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half.

Despite Rovers having an attacking spell the 2nd goal was inevitable and Palace were comfortable and unadventurous after that. A few more half chances for Rovers. Shame one of them wasn't taken.

Scoreline was a fair reflection on the game. Rovers gave a really good account of themselves against a pretty much full strength top flight team.

Well done. Now let's smash Grimsby on Saturday.

I think the lads can hold their heads high, playing against a premiership team can always be a lottery for us but the whole group were up for it and gave it a good go, difference to me was they made something from their chances where we just fell short.

Difficult to pick a player out of that but i thought the defence stood up well, Anderson let nobody down and Joe continued in his good form, Sterry was very good down the left and for me Mols had his best game in quite some time.

I would have liked to have seen Ironside start and do a 45 min spell if that's all GM wanted from him, he gave some top level defenders something to think about and changed our attacking imputes dramatically, Sharp could have come on for the last 45 and been more effective.

Good experience for the lads and a very creditable effort, we now need to knuckle down and solidify our promotion push.

If some of the extra fans want to come back next Sat against Grimsby they are more than welcome. Nice to see the home ends full.

Proud of them all tonight, they never gave up. It was always going to be tough, but they made a game of it.

Back to the bread and butter on Saturday in our quest for promotion and they can gain more confidence after tonight

Will be pleasantly surprised if there’s 7,000 home fans, a lot of people there today who you never see! Deserves to be more on that showing!
