Spot on Bob.

I miss Fuzzyduck greatly. I had 2 emails addresses for him but very sadly he no longer responds.

I fear the worst because when you support a team like he supported Donny you dont disappear like he did but I hope I am wrong. His latter posts were from Switzerland, where he worked, and he was well known for supporting a local team.

Great respect Fuzzy

Winterthur.

He used to post match reports and updates as well as his fantastic Rovers videos.

I still miss him.

As he was working full time and he used to whizz about all over the place I don't think he can have been anywhere near old. OK it was perhaps 15-20 years ago now, but even then I'd be surprised if he was anything over 55 now.

I used to post on YAURS back in the day, also Confguide.  Mostly on Bifmag with Sturdy, Carlos the Jackal, Herman etc.  Some great laughs.
Confguide that was one I was trying to think of  and as for Bifmag   I'll always remember  "Snatch of the Day"

I remember a snatch of the day at Boston being particularly great viewing, wish I could still access that to see if it was as impressive as a younger Albert thought :)

Who else has been googling bifmag to see if it is still up?

To save you the trouble look at the internet archive, this one form Feb 2005

I daren’t open that. I might accidentally try the poo porn challenge. Again.

Andrew Spiers set up the original Rovers site & forum during the Richardson days. A lot of the protests were arranged on there, as well as the R'Sonists football team (that still exists today i believe!). Myself and Nathan Batchelor setup our own site DR-WEB or something during the first year in the Conference. All before Rovers had an official site so between us we were the only online presence for a while. When Andrew scaled down his involvement I negotiated moving the forum to run under Confguide which was a much more stable setup run by Hoagy (a Yeovil fan) as traffic increased, as part of our website. At some point it was then returned to VSC to manage and became the forum it is today.

YAURS (yet another unofficial rovers site) appeared a bit after ours and used to pinch our stories, so much that we started chucking fake ones in to catch him out. It was all a bit 'divide and conquer', he got a bit shirty with us a couple of times too (which was definitely foreshadowing of how it played out) but I never got taken to court :)

Loved Confguide - not only a message board but stats and history too. Had a lot of time for Hoagy. My wife had close relatives in Yeovil, and one was a lifelong Yeovil fan. I was invited over one year to see Yeovil v Rovers in the year we steam-rollered tier 4 (then in its last year of being called Division 3). It was McIndoe's first return and the locals made it very clear what they thought of him. But we had the last laugh and won and I had to stay very quiet amidst all the Yeovil fans. Hoagy invited me to write an article in the program for that game.

Dutch ..I attended that match too ..on Retford coach with Paul and Andy Liney .The coaches stopped at a pub on the way a bit later than had been scheduled and booked by phone so by the time we pulled up there was one single bar maid in attendance .120 pints were pulled however by experienced willing arms and the cash register was red hot .Ravenhill was man of the match no?

Don't know about MoM but he certainly scored the only goal. IIRC he was a bit of a surprise selection over Paul Green alongside John Doolan for that match

Dave, Fuzzy's father was a school teacher at Stainy school for a short time when I was there. I thought Fuzzy was brought up just off Princess Ave but I am not certain.

Which was the site that used to have the feature where they'd convince birds wearing Rovers shirts at games to lift them up and get their bangers out?

I was only a teenager but I'm sure I haven't imagined that. Or have I?!

This is absolutely extraordinary stuff.

“Meanwhile, a slanging match between two Doncaster fans on a supporters' club website has ended up before a judge.

In what is thought to be the first case of its kind, lifelong fan Nigel Wroe took fellow supporter David Beddoes to court as a result of comments written on a fans' chatroom.

The row started with critical comments made by Wroe about O'Driscoll's appointment in September 2006.

He provoked an angry response from Beddoes and other fans on the Viking Supporters' Co-operative website.

Wroe, who lives in Hampshire but still supports the Rovers on a regular basis, claimed the remarks had cost him sleepless nights when he appeared at Doncaster County Court.

He took legal action against Beddoes, claiming that his remarks were defamatory and amounted to harassment.

The judge agreed and granted an injunction against Beddoes, preventing him from posting any more comments about Wroe on the site for the next six months.”

Taking people to court for social media comments? Wow, step forward this Wroe character,  you were ahead of your time.
I'm sure he loves this  moment in UK history, this is your government,  they're your babies.
Come back,  now is your time to shine, though you missed the chance be a curtain twitcher during the bad flu season  5 years ago.
You have willing ears in power, even worse than the previous bunch of scum.

Seems he didn't quite master the getting  police to go knocking on doors move but he knew that from small acorns do oak trees grow.
No idea who this Wroe is but without doubt he admires Sir Starmer.

A bit of a inaccurate report there, I forget the figure I think it was £1500 that he wanted to claim for deformation of character, there were about 6 or 7 cases lined up, I was the first one, the judge said that she couldn’t believe this had been brought to court and threw the claim out, however the judge asked me if I would agree to an injunction against me for 6 months not to post anything regarding him, I agreed and that was the end of it, the other 6 or 7 cases were dropped as soon as we came out of court

I was at that gane at Yeovil when Ricky got the winner. Night match and I was stood behind the goal which had open terracing - and where he scored the winner. My car didn't at all like the damp grass where I'd parked it....

Hound, I don't  think the Nidge Roe you mentioned is the same guy as he who ran YAURS. His surname was Wroe. Nigel Wroe. I never saw it abbreviated by anybody ever. Nigel wasn't bald either.

Somewhere on my laptop I know I've got the last message I ever sent to Nigel. Haven't found it but if and when I do I'll add it to this thread. In my memory at least it is quite informative.

BobG

Definitely different people.

Nigel Wroe seemed a really nice guy. Remember meeting him at a few away games down south. Then something changed. Sad how it ended.

"Something changed" ..... you can say that again Jonathan!

Towards the end, contributors to Yaurs were dropping like flies. I was one of the last men standing but that all changed when I sent Wroey a polite PM sticking up for you, because he referred to you as a "dying swan".

That was that!
He took our disagreement public and insulted me on the forum, so I posted a final lengthy tome telling him what I thought, and that was "Goodbye Yaurs"!

I think by that time there were only about half a dozen of us remaining so it was a bit boring anyway!

I remember you being on there until the bitter end BB.

I used to post under my real name back then and we were two of the dwindling number of posters towards the end.
I didn't hear those rumours you refer to but when Wroey started being very intolerant and confrontational with even the most moderate and sensible contributors, I knew the days of Yaurs were numbered.

It was a shame because it was a cracking forum at its height.

On the subject of Yeovil. Anyone know of “Yeovil Pete” who used to support us back in the day? Not seen him for years.
