Great day
« on March 01, 2025, 05:15:18 pm by Copps is Magic »
One of the most comfortable performances from Rovers in a long time.

Wimbledon
Walsall
Notts County
Vale

All drop points.

A lot’s gone right for us (could have been even better without a couple of late goals) but I think the most important thing is that it sounds like a commanding, dominant performance exactly when we needed it. The lineup feels pretty settled now, are things coming together? Two very winnable games up next so hopefully we’re in an even more promising position this time next weekend.

Walsall collapsed. 12 points from last ten games. We have 21 points from last ten games.

Very comfortable today. A bigger test on Tuesday and next Saturday. Swindon in good form.

Crowds are definitely on the up. New faces around our seats every week. Crowd numbers seem to be building slowly but hopefully sustainably too.

Sterry was excellent today. Bullied their winger all game, and ran riot as a winger. One of his best games.

Bromley playing very well -just won at Wimbledon - but do seem better away that at home
Swindon very much improved under Holloway

Both have won 4 and drawn one out of last six
We will do very well indeed to win these games

I’m meeting a Bromley supporting mate on Tuesday before the game. He’s just messaged me saying “lucky for you we’re ass at home”.

Not easy games by any stretch but if we’re realistic about finishing in the top 3 they’re games we ought to be winning.

I was surprised by the Bromley result today. Against Bradford they looked very average.

Big win and momentum is there. It will be a rollercoaster and tough run in for sure so a big confidence booster. Probably one of the first times we've been a bit more clinical but even then 3-0 flatters them hugely.

We're a good team no doubting that and we will need to be in this run in. We're getting close to mini league territory now.

If I was putting a bet on i would go Bradford, Donny, Notts.  Losing Cook has been a big blessing for Bradford.

I wasn't there today so can't comment but Sterry's been 1 of the most consistent performers for the past few months

Only a few weeks ago Walsall had a 15 points lead over us.

Sterry was very good today. And ... I've been critical of him but Broadbent was also very good today (if he had more pace he would be a top class player).

Sterry was very good….. well I thought he was quite simply fabulous today.
His short and long range passing was excellent. He dispossessed his opponent numerous times and his little touches, flicks and short passes were premiership level, his peripheral vision is great, he must have seen situations only those in row z can see. Classy and Clever, Good lad!

Street was excellent. Broadbent is ok at the defensive stuff but can’t ever see him being good enough on the ball to play at any sort of level though. Awful passer of a football. There was a free kick he took (first half I think), highlighted that he really struggles to kick it properly. Against better teams we need more in there than him and Clifton.

That was excellent today. It could easily have been 5 or 6.

The difference in having a mobile centre forward looking to run in behind is massive.

It stretches the game, gives the opponents something different to think about, makes Rovers much less predictable and frees up space for our other attacking players.

It gave Molyneux, Gibson (finishing apart) and Sterry the extra space and freedom to torment the opposition.

It was a great day result wise barring the Bradford score- I watched that game vs Salford, two very ordinary teams, and Bradford should have lost comfortably in the second half, Salford were very wasteful.

A word on Newport, the worst team performance I have seen at league 2 level, by some distance. Feel for their hardy fans that travelled all that way to watch that today.

What a match. First time this season we’ve walked out with nothing to moan about. We bossed that game from start to finish.

Disagree on the Broadbent passing point, I think he’s underrated in that department.
He’s a strong lad who gets stuck in too.
His issue comes when he is in a tight spot or under pressure and needs to manoeuvre on the ball quickly.

Btw I thought we were horrid in the first half. Second half was a breathe of fresh air.

Really good team performance that today, chased & harried every ball, & could & should have won by more. Everyone played well but thought Sterry & Broadbent were excellent. Great 3 points & onto Tuesday.

Best home performance of the season. Really could have been 6/7-0.

Sterry. What can you say. That was a mesterly performance. Didn't make a wrong call all match.

Yes it's another win against a bottom end club, but that's the sort of performance you expect from a promotion quality side and we've struggled to produce that all season.

Hope that's us clicking into gear now.

Our last 10 game form is good. Won 7, lost 3, ppg 2.1. That's title winning form.

Within that run, true there haven't been performances like today. But the three defeats were Port Vale, Chesterfield and Grimsby Town. Of those, only the Grimsby Town game was a horror show. We were in the Chesterfield game for most of the 90 minutes despite the heavy beating. Port Vale was also a close game.

Very good today. Got to back that up at a tricky looking away game at Bromley and then a rejuvenated Swindon. Another 2 big games.

Not getting too carried away, Newport literally looked like they gave up after 50 mins. But we were good.

Also it should be noted that our home fans are turning up again.
Just over 8000 in today and only a small amount from Newport.
The atmosphere in the south Stand was very good and huge credit should go to the main singing section.

Anyone else think the last game of the season will be an auto promo decider?
