Special mention for big Tom Been out of the team for a few weeks then slots back in like he’s never been away

Thought he was poor yesterday.  Bailey had the much harder job.

Full backs were the problem yesterday they were never on top oif the wide lads they had to mark and were run at every opportunity
down the line and failed to stop many crosses, and we badly missed the covering pace and strength of Olowu who has been consistently good this season and has covered for a lack of pace and mistakes in a lot of games at the back this season.

Swings and roundabouts, Brian. You're right that Olowu has been great this season, but he was at fault for Bromley's goal.

Senior was at fault for the 2nd goal yesterday, but would Maxwell have done any better? maybe so, or maybe not, because he too has had some poor games this season.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think that inconsistency is the thing that will bring us up just short of the top 3.

Have to agree SS but Anderson always seems to be the sacrificial lamb. Is it because he’s the no nonsense central defender, he doesn’t look the part ? If you’ve played the game he’s the type of bloke you’d want at the back.

I also thought that Ando was very good yesterday.
He is exceptionally strong and had the better of his man for most of the game and would have scored a winning goal if Billy hadn’t touched the ball which I think was going into the corner.
A special mention too for Bailey who was tasked with marking Smith for most of the time and despite the size difference between them, managed him well.

There's not a lot between Maxwell and Senior defensively. It's the attacking side that's the huge gap. Same with Sterry v Nixon.

Sterry is a very important ingredient in our attacking play.
We missed him in that department yesterday.

Bailey is often good at centre back. Makes you wonder if that might even be his best position.

Stop blowing smoke up his backside, he is a good player in a hard to play position as a defensive midfielder and even shoved more forward but is not imposing enough to be a regular central defender.
Its ok to in an emergency to play players out of their comfort zone and great they can pull it off now and again, but we need to get the best out of him for the team where he can effect the game more, and we need specialist defenders as central defenders.
The old saying horses for courses comes to mind.

I would argue that Anderson is probably our most two footed player. Some further forward could do with working on that side of the game.

I personally think Bailey plays really well in a 3 centre back role, wing backs etc. We will need to recruit another couple of centre backs next season because we will only have one under contract McGrath, Owolu hopefully will be offered a longer deal, maybe Anderson another year, but I’m afraid Wood and Faulkner will be released

Correct and I often make that point on here.
All goals are preventable with the benefit of hindsight.

Zero value in a club like us signing players over 30.

The club could have to pay money out they don't need to if they are not careful in central defensive areas that could be spent a lot better in other areas of the team when you look at that list to go into division 1 with.
