I get the general point but they are just another petrostate funded entity winning a trophy. The refreshing change will be if Forest or even Bournemouth make it into the ECL. I had hoped to see Newcastle win nothing for as long as possible.

OK, I get your point about the owners but how on earth can you criticise the fans?
Fans don't care where the money comes from even if it comes from human rights abuses and/or slavery.

It is probably about as good as it gets for Newcastle I would say.

Won't make top 4 and Isak, Gordon and Bruno willl leave.

Isaak likely to move if they get CL or not. He should be playing for a big club.

A big club ? In Europe maybe, but Newcastle are a big club, in this country you are more likely to see meet a Newcastle fan than a Tottenham fan. Pre Premiership days Newcastle and Leeds were big teams fan base wise than Chelsea,Tottenham and Man City

Big club more because of the size of the city and their fans plus the stadium than anything to do with trophies.

This season will be classed as a failure for them if they don't get top 4 considering how bad some of the others have been.

They still are bigger Draytonian at least two of the clubs you mentioned now depend on foreign tourists to fill seats and if they fall away they will lose them in the future.
Leeds are different they cash in on Yorkshire being a successful club desert, they came from a bog standard 2nd division club in the 1950's and had twelve  years of success with a nucleus of home grown superstars and are still cashing in on it, and a single city club with nothing to the east coast and between Manchester to the west, and are crowd full of hangers on basically.

These things are obviously relative but on global terms, no.

Revenue, only one measure, and Newcastle are nowhere compared to the major English clubs. Just a bit ahead of West Ham.

Only because they stop the Newcastle and Manchester City owners putting what they want in, their own money at that, while other clubs like Manchester United spend money they haven't got and rack up dept.

They are global brands but only in the last 20 years, if Newcastle were to have a quarter of either of their success in the next 20 years it would dwarf both of them

There are geordies all over the world, and they are very much one club supporters from all the North East clubs, and their kids are brought up the same way.
They are already laying off workers in the Man U shirt factory in Turkey.

We're talking actual fans, not Vietnamese kids watching on the telly.
