Booing aimed at Haks last night?
« on April 16, 2025, 03:53:28 pm by Thorney »
Have i missed something, what was the reason behind the booing towards Haks everytime he got the ball last night?

Was good for us last season on loan

Cos he's an ex player & turned down a contract with us, it will always happen.
Personally I agree with you & didn't boo, but it's all a bit panto, I'm sure he wasn't too upset.

He turned down a contract, didn't have a club for months, and turned up at Salford.
Deserved it.

Most people were struggling to keep a straight face singing that Gibson was better than him anyway.

He deserves pelters for dumping us at the end of the year, and ending up at Salford, but it's made all the more painful for knowing that with Haks we'd likely be 10 points better off and having a four game promotion party.

Forget the booing it’s football, I’m just glad his great shot hit the post and didn’t go in, perhaps our luck is turning at last.

I must say that I was relieved that he did not get more involved, he never seemed to be anywhere near  the ball was or was it that they did not seem to play to his strengths. He really seemed a bit lazy and perhaps that's why he was only subbing in the early part of the season. There was the powerful shot to TSL's right towards the end, but he rarely seemed to be in amongst the action. I can't remember their GK picking him out with any long balls in our half, like TLT did.

Me too Forsolonga, he showed flashes in moments, but they really didn't utilise him right. Give him the freedom and game time Gibson's had this year up the top of the park and he'd be tearing this league a new one in my opinion. I'd have him back in a heartbeat. But I still booed the bugger!

There’s no guarantee we would have had him at his best.  He was anonymous the last few games of last season..

If we go up would we consider going in for him again?

Still the best attacking wide left player we've had for eons. I know Gibson is still in contract, could we persuade a Scottish club to loan him?

The poor bloke was literally running on fumes towards the end of the season, our season and Ramadan don't sit well together, especially night games.

Ramadan ended on 9 April, I just checked.  I’m talking particularly about the play off games..

One decent shot in the second leg (for example) and not in the game for the rest - a bit like yesterday.  That’s my point - if we signed him, would he give us those performances or the match winning ones from his earlier games.?

He suited our setup very well, consequently taking a lot of the pressure of Mols who also raised his game in unison. His tracking back and helping his defender was carried out in a manner which led you to believe he cared enough for the overall good of the team. These things made a big difference to our overall performance, something we've been chasing all season to replicate, without success.

Has there been a better Rovers loan spell?

I wasn’t at the game but wouldn’t have booed him simply because he was an absolute joy to watch.

If he’s in the mood, unplayable. If being the operative word.

Presuming we go up Gibson will not be the answer in L1, definitely Ennis is not good enough either, so guess this will be a priority target given Grant won’t play with just one wide player.
Can’t see him considering Haks for various reasons, although we can’t deny he’s real class when he’s on his game and played in a position which suits his game.

Ironically Gibson is one of the only players that have proven that they can perform in L1 in this squad.

I wonder if he's going to start performing in L2.

He had a decent season in League One for Carlisle and scored 9 goals (which included pens).  He hasn't set anything alight for me and doesn't strike me as a player that gets his head up enough and makes good decisions.... he must be infuriating to play alongside...

He did tail off towards the end of the season but I would piggy back Gibson to Salford if we could arrange a swap deal for them.

I'm sure Gazlaz was telling us last season that penalties shouldn't be ranked as high as open play goals.

I don’t think Ramadan fasting helped him . And the rumour was that it was his parasite agent that schppered any chance of him staying . Not Hal’s himself.

Amazes me how they can play professional sport with no food or drink for so long before a game and even during it. Will make a huge difference for sure. Also at professional level.

Depending on how this season ends, Rob Street could be right up there.

Billy Sharp, Matt Mills, Jason Shackell, Taylor Richards, Jacob Ramsey and quite a few more including keepers. We've had many quality loans over the years but maybe our memory was skewed due to the general lack of quality in L2.

Adelakun was never ours to keep. He made his decision. As talented as he is, he's isn't worth breaking the bank for, so he perhaps overstated his worth with his demands and had to compromise those to find a club.

I'm sure in the same circumstances GM would do the same thing again by moving onto other targets. Would Adelakun do the same again?

Olowu, McGrath, Maxwell, Sterry, Molyneaux, Bailey.

All capable of performing in Lg1.
