I was exchanging texts with a city fan I used to work with. He now has no confidence whatsoever in them getting anything on Saturday
now. He says they were really hanging on at the end.
I’ve watched Rovers long enough not to take anything for granted.
I’ll be in the gym in my Rovers top in the morning discussing matters with the regular City fans there.

Said the exact same thing after the first leg at Crewe last season. This isn’t over. Lose to Bradford and Walsall beat Accrington and the whole dynamic changes going into the final day. Enjoy the win and league table tonight but we all need calmness. The EFL has a nasty habit of biting you on the a$s. Sit the players down and make them watch that 2nd leg every day this week!

Exactly, and I spoke with Copps about that a few weeks after the Hartlepool defeat.
He was happy about the promotion but seriously brassed off that they messed up winning the title.

As said in other posts, I would love for Port Vale to lose against Wimbledon next week & us to beat City thus ensuring the title of Champions comes to Rovers next Saturday.

Having said that, of course we want City to go up too (don’t give a monkey’s about Darren Moore & his club) the more Yorkshire clubs the merrier for big gates & bragging rights.

Plus….let’s get out of this division with its ‘Sunday League’ officials & ‘Sunday Park’ pitches.

I get where you're all coming from on not taking anything for granted but for me yesterday's performance was so different to anything else we have seen from the team this season that I struggle to imagine that the lads themselves could fail to see that for themselves and understand that the high energy input they all gave was the reason they won the game.  I fully expect to see the same kind of effort on Saturday and other than for a poxy early goal to Bradford expect to see a similar outcome.

That was the best I've seen Rovers play all season. I can't remember the last time I saw so much energy in their play.

We have some good players showing their class at a very decisive part of the season.

Totally agree best game at home since the first game, and to be fair it’s probably what most of us have been expecting.
Every single player contributed, to what was a big win. Colchester showed in the second half, that they are a good team with plenty of pace.

I agree. This was a really cohesive display and there was a collective confidence. It is frustrating to believe that the majority of the players can play more constructively, yet in so many games they opt for the safe option of a sideways or backward pass. I think if I were a manager I’d come down hard on the player who passes the ball sideways and then points upfield to whoever he passed it to urging them to be more adventurous. But yesterday we saw none of that. The determination to move forward bred confidence and that is essential when you are trying to be constructive. A lot of people criticise Clifton, but he epitomises what can be done if you show determination. So many of his goals (and probably most of his yellow cards) are the result of being positive. A modern Norman Hunter is a useful asset.

Even in the second half when Rovers were largely defending they did so calmly and confidently and they passed the ball far more accurately than we’ve seen for most of the season. There was no question of parking the bus; they were comfortable and didn’t look like they were going to concede.

It was a most complete performance, worthy of a team at the top of the class.

I do appreciate that and also that the back pass can be similarly appropriate, but as we all observe, it’s the other kind (usually in unchallenged defensive positions) which have been all too prevalent from some players.

I thought Colchester played backwards a lot - a few times they had free kicks either side of the half way line, and instead of sending a ball forward to the edge of our box, it went a couple of passes back to their keeper.  Especially when they were behind as well..
