As an oldie

There are a couple of notable Notts. County games that stick in my memory. The first was the notorious " Coleman's" left hook where we lost 3-0 at home on our way to the title, and the second circa 1997/98 when we lost at home to Sam Allardyce's runaway champions. County fans took the piss all day about our demise and I remember thinking that what goes around comes around. Perfect karma today.
I just love my club :rtid:

I've blanked most of 97/98 out of my memory.

I was thinking recently Walsall's form from January onwards this season might be on a par with ours after Christmas in 1998.   Homework for Dutch Uncle ???   :chair:

I remember well the Coleman game, but one memory was my first trip there in the sixties, can't remember the year. We were behind the goal for the pre- kick off, but for the game to start, teams changed ends, so we began our migration to the other end, by the time we got there, we were 2-0 down, eventually lost either 5-1 or 5-2.  Memories eh!

5-2 We had a young lad, Williams I think at centre half. Doc Pace an old ex-Sheffield United player got a hat trick. It was a clod day as well.

Remember that game well. When reading the team sheet a county fan asked me if Charlie Williams was back playing. David Williams had a shock of bright red hair and couldn't have been more different looking. Unfortunately the Doc was too much for him. After 10 minutes it was already 2-1 to County and we had missed a penalty. The other County goals were both own goals by Jim Watton, one of our better players.

It is easily forgotten that County 'helped' set up the Brentford moment. Our penultimate match was against them at the Keepmoat, and IIRC win would have guaranteed us promotion, but County won 1-0 and spoiled the party, only for us to have a much bigger one  :scarf:

Edit: I believe our, home record in 2012-13 (W10 D5 L8) is the worst ever to win a divisional championship title, our stellar away form (W15 D4 D4) won it for us

The difference is they lost one decent player. We only had one to start with.
