I might be going mad but is the Sterry drive inside towards the penalty area one from the Guardiola playbook; with usually Crew filling in.

We also have the Sterry long pass which is so bloody effective.

He's becoming some player in the McCann system.

Big involvement in both goals again yesterday. What a second half to the season he’s had. Classy player.

Pure class ! Just needs to replace that aggressive push into more of a shoulder barge ! Sometimes gives refs a decision to make with free kicks in dangerous areas !that said he must be one of the best prospects going into League 1 at his position,

In the past I have some concerns about Jamie and some of the mistakes in loosing defenders etc. whilst still appreciating that he could be so much better.
This season I honestly believe he has taken his game to the next level, it seems like he has improved his game in all areas.
Sometimes he would drive forward and then deliver a nonsense ball, but now there is much more purpose when driving forward. We definitely need to him taking more direct shots because he can be a great striker of the ball.
He’s definitely been one of the key players this season, I sure moly and street will have appreciated his contribution to their games.
Looking forward to seeing him in L1 (I guess their will already be clubs who have noticed his performances this season)

We have to accept he will get beaten defensively sometimes because his attacking play is just so good. He's been excellent and seems to love it here.

He’s gone from strength to strength this season. Fantastic going forward and really dependable defensively. Been huge for us with some vital goals and assists.

The goal at Cheltenham was one of the moments of the season for me, was resigned to a bad day at the office and then...

His fitness and speed are what’s noticeably improved from when he first signed. Was always good on the ball but I often felt he didn’t commit much on the overlap and could be got at. He’s been beating lots of quick players for pace recently so must have worked on it

Best full back at the club now for me. Maxwell has looked like someone playing at 50% and clearly has problems with his foot still.

I have been critical of him for defensive weaknesses even this season earlydoors but got to say he’s improved every aspect of his game this season. Well done Jamie.

Totally agree. From a worrying trend of conceding goals from that right side to scoring most goals from that right side. Must be second only to Mols for assists this season

Kind of like the TAA situation at Liverpool. Good on the ball, not so good defending. As long as the overall contribution of both is a net positive that’s fine. That’s certainly been the case in the second half of the season.

It felt like there were two turning points, the Cheltenham and Colchester games. He was instrumental to both wins.

With the almost wingback like role he’s asked to play (as others have said with a trademark cut inside more often that overlapping the winger) Grant must know/expect that he is likely to get caught out. Especially as he often gets back and ends up defending against both wide players from the other team.

The exciting thing about a McCann side is that you can always expect goals, hopefully more than you concede. I think Sterry’s contribution often epitomises that.

I said yesterday that the almost telepathic link Sterry and Mols have is something to behold. Probably something that started at Hartlepool. I'd be focusing in pre-season with Maxi and Gibbo working with Stez and Mols to see if we can replicate it on the left too.

Agreed Rob. There’s room for improvement on our left side and I’m sure Grant and his staff will be looking to improve that side, by whatever means.

Hopefully now with proper rest and pre season we can get Maxwell back to his best. The last injury was an impact injury from a late tackle could happen to anyone but I think his style and composure to pass at the last second increases the chances of someone leaving a boot in. When Maxwell and sterry are both on form we have easily the best LB/RB in league two and I expect them to be well up there in L1.

Yeah Maxwell was obviously walking wounded for a significant portion of the end of the season. One of the interviews he was pretty frustrated with his own personal stop-start season.

I doubt he would have played a significant part of the run-in if not for Seniors suspension and then injury.
