It's really bizarre how if you pose any questions of how the club do things, then the usual suspects get all offended. The same people who defended david blunt, and probably Richardson.

I'm certainly not offended by anyone who asks questions and offers input, like McCammon egg n chips providing positive ideas. You accuse the club of doing nothing and resting on their laurels. I make no apology for challenging your assumptions.

They aren't doing enough to drum up interest in season ticket sales, it's that simple.

I've even had an ad for Brighton season tickets on my Facebook today.

Lincoln Rover. The clubs not doing enough. Pull your finger out. We've got Brighton trying to poach our fans!

If they are not “doing enough” how do you explain the big rise in year on year sales.?

Better on field performances, winning a lot more than the dross under Wellens, Mcsheffery and Schofield

We could have had the best marketing in the world under the Scofield era and season tickets would have plummeted.

And we've come full circle .....

If the club aren't marketing season tickets, then they are just resting on their laurels, and not striving for more sales and to further grow the fan base.

Unless you have a winning team who look like they have a direction supporters will stagnate . Our last few home  games saw an increase and that’s because of the expected out come . The club has a financial control constraint prohibiting the club spending beyond its ability to sustain . McCann has a more difficult time this season as loosing over half  the selected first team is a big ask . Ticket pricing is about affordability and we are still I debt to the owner … who I’m certain wants a full stadium and consistent challenging squad with good home performances will go along way to that .

The basic ingredients for attracting increased sales are all in place. A well run club who appointed a good manager backed by a rejuvenated Chairman who's philanthropic outlook, insists on keeping ticket prices affordable so getting access to tickets it easy. We have a progressive team trying to play good winning football and we don't want to stop there.

We've invested in better support staff, better training facilities, pitches and new purpose built weight rooms etc, finally improved the catering, we're improving the Belle Vue Bar, and will get a better sound system in the stadium. We are more active in the community, we have more sponsors wanting to be associated with the club. All these things are not resting on our laurels.

You can come up with really clever marketing campaigns but, they will only scratch the surface because very few people are introduced to their football fix as a direct result of marketing. If you conduct a survey of how folk start their football journey and what brings them along to matches, it's from what they hear and see from the pitch and joining up with friends, family, acquaintances, neighbours etc. Over 90% of us started the same way..

Whatever we think about the ebbs and flows of attendances, at the moment thankfully, TB and the club are ahead of the game.

If you have access to the info, might also be useful to know the rough split between renewals and new purchases.

Last season was just shy of 5k.
In terms of the split, I don’t have access to that. When I do I’ll supply an update.

Would be interesting to know what the club project we will sell from this point onwards? Another 1000 would be magnificent

Based on the data we've got so far we can make a few reasonable forecasts..

Repeat last season’s sales pattern from now until the start of the season, we’re looking at:

Absolute minimum: 5,250 season tickets (if sales slow right down)

Likely safe bet: around 5,500

High end: up to 6,400 - if late sales follow last year’s pattern exactly

We might absolutely smash it.

Why are percentages used when sales are based on actual numbers .so what is . 44%or92%  of how many = how much ?

Lincoln said last year’s tottal was just shy of 5,000. So, 92% of (say) 4950 is 4554.

I’m sure Lincoln will correct my maths if that number is incorrect.

Lincoln is obviously just reporting it as he's been told. If the sales are good, I do think it helps if the club releases the figure. Word of mouth marketing is big for this kind of thing. "We've sold over 4.5k season tickets". That travels very fast.

Increases (or decreases) are often expressed in percentages.  Inflation, pay rises etc.  comparing year to date ST sales in percentages is normal - the actual number of sales doesn’t matter but surely an increase of such a scale is great news?

For me the important people to market to are kids. There is always an opportunity to sell the local club to youngsters, the experience of going to the game regularly is not something they will get following Man City or Barcelona. Of course if you get the kids hooked then parents are likely to be dragged along too.

I'm sure the club knows this, school visits, free tickets and so on. Perhaps they could cast the net wider, Donny is a big area.

This is why I think it's so important to get the kit right. Kids want to wear a good looking top and big kids remember how important football kits were in their youth.

The kit design competition was always a great way to engage with the community. It's a missed opportunity for me.

Good point RD. A few weeks ago, I went to Castle Park to watch the Knights and noticed that kids are admitted for free. I am not saying for one minute that Rovers should do the same as I know the clubs will have two totally different business models, but the point is about getting the youngsters through the turnstiles and building the fan base that way
